Have been reading through the forum for several months, and have found a lot of useful info. Picked up my 1996 Daihatsu Hijet truck from Mayberry Mini Trucks in November and have been working on paint, bedliner, lights, etc. since then. Had no problem registering and getting a tag on it in Tennessee. Since I knew I would be adding a lot of LED lights, I cut the battery box in half and spread it so I could add a full size marine battery. Many more projects to come..........
Seat covers finished, headliner done. Sound proofing on back wall of cab, and front fender flare complete on the front. Back flares this weekend. Tractor toolbox bolted to frame, tailgate chains added, horse stall mat in bed, and some tie downs bolted into the corners of the bed. I'd say my list is getting shorter, but that would be a lie. bed.
Came up with a better way to mount my Bluetooth speaker and got one of the rear fender flares done. The Treblab speaker has a mic, and got to test a phone call while driving. It does really well for calls.
Dang this thing is a dream machine! Did you do all the paint and and camo covering yourself? Great looing rig!
Thanks! Yes. That is 13 rattle cans of OD flat and 6 or 7 cans of matte clear. Also 5 cans of spray in bedliner. And yes on the seats. Years ago my youngest daughter asked for a sewing machine for Christmas. Dad had to learn to sew to teach her.
Thats fantastic sir well done! I am fortunate to have a bit of a background in the decal making realm so I will be able to redo all the decals to my liking once I throw some new paint on my machine when I buy it in the coming months! I am also loving the tires especially for where I live here in Idaho!
I did the the frame with Rustoleum rust reformer, it goes on black. It wasn't really rusted but I figured it wouldn't hurt. Still have some of the underside of the bed to do. Need to get under and scuff it up good first.
Added some universal mud flaps that extend out to match the fender flares I installed. Removed the plastic pin in the fender Cut off the edge of the existing splash guard Drilled another hole in the fender for a second pin Two pins in the fender One self taping hex through the mudflap into the metal behind the existing mud guard I ended up cutting off more of the existing splash guard off at an angle across the back and pinned the new flap and the existing one together in the bottom right corner I did the cutting all in one piece on the passenger side Set of 4 Universal Car Truck Mud Flaps Splash Guards Fender https://www.ebay.com/itm/284594165366
Quick morning project to finish off the mud flaps. Used the other two mud flaps to cut new rear flaps and used the scraps to cut front rear flaps. Maybe it will cut down on the mud on my battery box!
Wow this is really coming along fantastic, love the battery lid as I got snow all up in there the other day. The slim box is a really nice use of what was free space.
Do you have any pictures of the whole truck with the fender flares installed? I was planning on putting those same ones on mine and would like to get an idea on how it would look. You've done a great job btw!
That write up is going to be super helpful, thanks for sharing! I think they look really good, I'll probably have to do what you did with your mud flaps as well, I have the same tires as you but on ITP Delta Steel Wheels, and they stick out a couple inches. They throw up a lot of mud!
I wish I had cut the rear flaps wider. I may redo them to flare out so they stick out under the fender flare.
Finished up the bed cover. Put snaps on the center support to roll up the bed cover and strap it up behind the cab.
