got off to a good start this morning. awesome outside (rain coming later)..

got in the shop & got the muffler on the mini truck. every now & then i can be patient enough for things to go smoothly instead of beating myself to death to make it happen.

this time rolled right out there, put on my shop clothes, cut the pipe off, stuck a expander in the pipe, bumped him out just a hair, slid the muffler up in there. nice & tight. fired it up. man that was sweet! made a hanger, welded it on, thru on a couple clamps. took it for a test run around the trails on the place.

NICE! no more sounding like old glass packs on a v8. now she just purrs.

good news is this muffler was for a 1.1L geo metro, so it flows plenty on this little 660cc motorcycle engine.

now on to the next thing.

^^*congrats on the smooth install ^^*

    I got a net.

Then I took a chance and rubbed some Vaseline on my faded FourCylinder 660cc sticker and brought it back to life!

Great tip on using the Vaseline on decals. I just rubbed some on the Joypop decals on my van and they really came back a lot.

Unfortunately the restoration of this one is going to have to wait until I finish renovating a property that I'll eventually be moving to. Generally I hate buying someone else's projects, but this came with the motherlode of NOS parts and spares. Couldn't pass on it even though its in pieces. Here's a few more pics from that day

Oh wow yeah. The sheet metal looks to be in really good shape and you do seem to have a pile of parts. Should keep you off the streets at night for a while.

4 new tie rod ends...and test fitted a single Miata "daisy" wheel with a 175/70r14 tire. All went well, so now I just need to find three more. :) Progress!

Replaced the lights in the cluster with leds, looks great but I don’t see the turn signals on the cluster(they work, just don’t indicate in the cab)
Gonna wait a bit before going through the torture of removing it again.

Do you have video of the sound? Did you tie this into your steer wheel horn or is there another button you installed in your dash.

Hauled a bunch of wood and my alignment got a little messed up, so I finally got under there and broke free all the 25yo+ jam nuts and got it straightened out :)

How would the alignment change via the tierods unless they were loose to begin with? Did something get bent under there?

That's what I thought but didn't see anything bent. Maybe it moved the rear around a bit and I was having to slightly steer to the right to compensate. I drove it around for a couple weeks to see if it would go back to normal and it never did.

Alignment doesn't just change like that without something being bent.

Added a hitch to t he van as using the racks for my kayaks proved to be fraught with peril and they were just too big up there.

Write up on the process coming soon. Teaser from when it was complete:

Re: Previous post about new steering wheel....

This ended up not working. The hub that I bought (based on a random internet thread), turned out to only sort-of work, as it did not support self-cancelling on the turn signals. Also, the horn button that came with the steering wheel was, to put it politely, crap.

Purchased a new hub off Ebay that was supposed to be an exact fit...and it was! But it only supports 6-bolt steering wheels, and the Grant above was three bolt....but I did have a six-bolt steering wheel that I had bought for future use on my Miata. So for the moment at least, my Carry is rocking it. :)

A buddy of mine here in Charlotte ran into the same issue with the turn signal thing. He resolved it but I need to check and see exactly what was involved.
