Does anyone know what alternator will work on a '92 Acty? I have one in the shop that has a bad diode and wondering if one from another Honda vehicle would work. The Acty alternator has a bad diode and keeps draining the battery. I could send it in for rebuild but hoping there might be a less expensive way.
Any of the mini Nippon/Denso alternators with the "T" configuration plug and the ears 180 deg. should work. You may have to change the pulley. I know that Kubota tractors use that type plug and likely many other do too. Look at this one it is what I mean. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/9-tooth-denso-12v-alternator-kubota-frontloader-backhoe_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem27adbdd0b2QQitemZ170418622642QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
This one has the battery wire in the right place. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-CHEVY-MINI-ALTERNATOR-DENSO-STREET-ROD-RACE-1-WIRE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5ad597599bQQitemZ390130522523QQptZLHQ5fDefaultDomainQ5f100
Thanks for the reply OldMachinist but the ones on Ebay have the ears in the wrong place. Mine are straight across not offset. I'll take a picture tomorrow and post.
I'm trying to take out the alt on 1998 acty AH4, and the problem is that I have all the wires off but the pully keeps getting caught on a Shroud which covers the belt. I can not find a way to get this thing out! any tips would be great! Thanks in advance
