Heres the pinouts for the OEM Suzuki plug for the OEM radio. I had to use the new pigtail for the new stereo. ___________________ | 1 2 |. .| 3 4 5 | | - - |___| X X X | | 6 7. 8 9 .1 1 1 | | - -..- -..- X X | |. . . . . .0 1 2 | |________________ | Wire colors: Rb Red with black thin line R Red Bb Blue with black thin line B Blue W White Wb White with black thin line Ry Red with yellow thin line Pinouts: 3,4,5,11,12 Unused (no wires) 1 - R,6 - Rb Right speaker 2 - B,7 - Bb Left speaker 8 - W Battery 12V+ (constant for preserving presets and settings) 9 - Wb Ignition switched 12V+ (power) 10 - Ry Ground Pic of the old connector:
I don't have door speakers. Mine are under my seat and they suck. Maybe eventually I will make a speaker box for the back.
Looks to me like the front springs from 96-00 Honda Civics and 01-05 Civics would make good OEM rate springs to use on the van. I have to do some more research but t heres a ton of civics in the pull apart and the springs would only be $15.00 per springs or $25.00 per strut if I'm too lazy to remove at the yard. Thats under $100.0 for a full set of softer springs for the van. Hondas have ID of 70mm/2.75in just like the van does.
Ok so nix the way I wired the radio, DO NOT do it that way. Instead I found a constant 12v via an empty fuse slot (fog lamps) and a switched 12v via the lighter and then just grounded the radio ground to the radio chassis and all is well. I blew out fuse #3 twice to figure this out. Also the wires on the OEM harness are very thin and the force the power to go through a few switches and things that can reduce power to the radio. Direct wire it to be safe. I still used the OEM speaker wires with no issues.
Do you have a part number for the timing belt? I tried looking on megazip but the part number was discontinued and I haven't been able to find it without the full kit. If not no worries. Love reading up on your van. Been working on my '93 turbo
Mine are also out of stock. Looking around I'm seeing a few sizes for the turbo vans depending on chassis code. Im about to pull some from Japan. What is your part number Trenton? Original and Replacement out of stock numbers. Shipping sucks but I can order more than 1 if they have it. Ill be putting order in soon so let me know... Ordering from https://yokohamamotors.net/ Unless someone has a better source. I dont know the exact size yet for my van so ill order OEM first and check it.
It was sourced from G&R Import through my dealer when I purchased it. Its brand JZK part # 113YU25 if that helps. Not sure theres any difference for the turbo.
Eh Ive had some not so great experiences with grimports mostly because my van is the turbo van. But I'll look up that brand thanks!
From looking on megazip the part number listed for my van is 11407-70D10-000 but it also says it's discontinued. But two others responded to my question with some other options I'm going to look into those today.
A user on here @Uncle Eddie shipped me some OEM truck front springs last week. Thank you much Ed! I'm going to throw those on today if I get time and see how they work and if they are a bit softer than whats on there. Also going to see if I can get a look at the rear springs to determine what I can use back there as well. Hoping the same OEM springs might work in back too.
I tried to put the springs on but need to get a different compressor. Don't need a compressor for the existing springs because they are short to begin with and progressive as well. The stock springs are linear and longer so I need a compressor that can fit these smaller springs. Once I get a different compressor I can try them out. Good news I am able to swap springs by just removing the wheel and unbolting the strut top and swinging it out, so very easy on the fronts. The rear springs appear to be 3+in I.D. and 11 mm thick spring stock and progressive. So higher spring rate for sure. So much fun!
So the mystery wires in the middle right of this picture (yellow, red and blue wires poking out of the console cover for the OEM speaker) are spliced into the radio harness and then the show up down low on the console at the bottom going under the carpet. I finally found the terminal they are feeding. I had the drivers seat out to do some spring measurements and I lifted the carpet where there was a bump. Thats when I found the terminal. I have no clue what it may have been put in for but it had a connector very similar to the radio one. Next time I'm in there I'll cut it out and remove it.
Ordered all the water hoses I could get from megazip and the 3 brakes hoses. These and replacing old fuel lines to from the tank are all thats left for rubber replacement. My coolant hoses are weeping. I've driven the van a couple 100 km and I see that the overflow lost about 3/4 inch of coolant. I hope the radiator is still good, we shall see. Order gets here end of the month.
So megazip got back to me and didn't have some of the engine side heater or radiator hoses, which didn't surprise me. I also ordered 2 front brake lines as well and those are no longer made. Getting the rear one but really want to replace them all. Time to start digging.
Seriously looking at the front brake hoses for a 96 Suzuki Swift. I'll get some measurements at lunch but they look like a fit Dimensions and pic: SUNSONG 2203626 Specifications Bracket? No End 1 Fitting Size (MM) 10 End 1 Fitting Type Banjo End 2 Fitting Size (MM) 10 End 2 Fitting Type Female Hose Material 1 EPDM Length (IN) 19.33 Length (MM) 491
I did some rough measurements and those front brake lines from the swift look right for the van. Will order 2 up and see how they work. The megazip parts won't be here for at least a couple more weeks. At $8+ per line, you can't go wrong trying them out anyway. The pair from megazip would have cost $40+ plus shipping.
Megazip order showed up. Got both front radiator hoses, one front heater hose, a rear brake hose and an OEM tstat which included the rubber seal as well. I have hose to make the other heater hose and I have I think some hose to do the eng side coolant hoses. Also a small oil leak from the bottom bolt of the cover for the cam part of the timing belt. So may need to pull that apart a bit and see if its the cam shaft seal (have one new in box) or if its from the valve cover. The oil is very clean and fresh looking.
Got in some new stuff for the van. A digital flasher for fixing the hyper flash with LEDs and real Suzuki center caps for t he 13in Suzuki wheels that cam on the van. When I got it the center caps were Nissan (yuck!) The flasher is 29 mm square but the OEM one is 27mm and the socket is sized for it. I'll have to make a pigtail to mount this in and then stick on the side of the socket. I tried removing the socket but I couldn't get it off the side of the fuse block easily (meaning without destruction).
Heres a link to the flasher in case anyone else wants to use it. It won't fit so you have to wire it up but it works great and still makes the blinky noise too! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0786CX8LP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Measured the van heater and radiator pipes that run under the middle of the chassis. Radiator pipe outside diameter: 25.3 mm -- Hose to use would be 1 inch ID radiator hose Heater pipe outside diameter: 16.3 mm -- Hose to use would be 5/8 inch ID heater hose Will use the Gates green stripe since its exposed under the chassis. I have about 1/2 OEM hoses that are still available but will have to make do with generic hose for the rest.
Got the all the hoses I need in and will report back on the swift brake lines when I swap them in. Next up replacement of all the coolant hoses, the fuel filter, and some more fuel lines under the chassis.
Did you get the springs situated yet? My 95 joypop sits way low in the front. I’d like to stiffen it a touch.
Not yet, low on the priority list until I finish hose replacements for coolant and fuel. Just got the gas tank down to 1/4 so I can drop it without being too heavy.
Nope, no boost, just carbed. So each spring was 80 or all 4 were 80? I've never seen them that cheap.
