just a thought, we have one on other sites & with a little moderation it can be a great tool.
Do you have a link to site so I can look at it? Please PM with the link.
i think this would be nice... i have also seen sites where you buy a vendor "star" so that they may openly promote themselves... i have noticed in my short time here that there seem to be a lot of "dealers" that fly through here and plug themselves and they are gone... there "post ads" will come up in searches etc. and they havent or likely will never be a useful member... if someone is serious about being a dealer then pay up and support the site... i see the banner ads, and those are great cash flow for the site, but there may be vendors who might sell more than minis, if any of all... what about transporters, mechanics, tire dealers, steel vendors, fabricators, that are going to make this hobby mainstream... alot of these guys stay quiet as to not seem like a spammer because of flack they get on other sites, but if there was a way for them to legitimately promote themselves i think it would benefit everyone... just my .02 from a business standpoint...
Great idea! I'm all for it.
They can buy banner or like some have done is just paid for support and I've changed their title so people know they are a supporting member. I do like the star idea, it stands out a little more.
The mod's and I try to keep those spam ads out of here for the most part. But I do know what you're saying, they come to post a link and then they are gone.
You can be a great supporter to the site by giving lot of help to users on the site. That can be a great way to promote yourself without even having to post ads, links or buy from me type of things. People remember who to go to when they receive great help from other, also people will start to say "Ask XxxX he/she is the pro at those types of questions.
So please don't deter from posting on the site, all of us don't like the "one linker - check my site out" or "I can get you a smoke'n deal, and I will undercut XxxX."
I think we need to start using the member reputation system on the site. This way we know who has a great reputation from others. I will look into that.
Great stuff draggbody, thanks for the input!
