What is the best way to remove the Speed Limiter on my Hijet. I just got this little rig for some farm work. It has the dump bed and scissor lift feature, so it should be darn handy. I've installed a new water pump, battery and a 2'' lift kit. It seems really sluggish, It starts and runs fine, so I suspect the speed limiter instead of the carb, but I probably should take it off and clean it. Any advise on this speed limiter would be great. Thanks.

I also have a Daihatsu Hijet S80LP. Not sure of the year? It also has a speedometer which also reaches to 25 MPH. Let me know as to what is limiting it's speed? Also, would love to convert vehicle to disk brakes instead of shoes. Would you know of a manufacturer offering such a conversion?

On my Hijet, there is a small black box, underneath the dash on the right hand side of the truck, it has a 4-6 wires leading into it. It is labeled, "speed Limiter". It has a switch that states 15MPH or 25MPH. My Hijet is a Left hand drive, so it was meant for import into the states I assume. I'm very new to these mini trucks, and I'm having a hard time finding info on my particular model. I have not looked at a disc brake conversion yet, but that would be slick. Since these mini trucks use ATV wheels and tires, that's where I would look for parts, such as brake rotors or calipers.

I'm also looking at disk brake conversions for my SL80LP. I can't seem to find too. It you find let me know. I'm also trying to up the speed on mine. Do you have instructions as to how to do?

Hey Robert, on my S80LP there is a fuel cut off solenoid that is on the carburetor. That is what limits mine for speed. once the truck reaches 25mph, the solenoid closes off fuel to the carb. It was the bottom solenoid in the fuel bowl.

SL80LP Modification: I'm also thinking of brake rotors for all 4 wheels vice the OEM drum brakes. I guess use the rotors for a later model Daihatsu HiJet. I'll let you know if successful.
