Anyone who really modified their minitruck got any pictures?

  2. I just added a picture of a lifted truck with camo, wheels, tires, exhaust bumper, and scissor lift for a hunting blind. Techinally it's not mine - America's Mini Truck Center in SD built the truck and brought it to Texas for a hunting show and I'm selling it on "consignment" for them. That's about as "pimped" as I've got. :D

Took a look at the pimped hunting truck. Very cool. Nice to see people can get that sissor lift as an option.

Check out wtnminitruck's stuff in the gallery. It's one of the coolest trucks I've seen so far. I think he posted a thread about it too. [IMG]

Here's a pic of my supercharged Sambar just secured at auction, can't wait to take her for a spin! I'm gonna put some of my VW wheels on when I get my hands on her!

    Thanks Steve :D

I don't know many details yet, it's still in Japan. I do know it's a 1990 Subaru Sambar KS4 supercharged. From the pics I see a Momo steering wheel, TV, monster tach, carbon fibre door panels. I was wanting to build a Sambar STI and this one is well on its way! Throw some blizzaks on it and tear it up this winter!

Its also got a DVD screen, although I'm not sure where the DVD player is. I'll make sure to give Frostback more details. One thing for sure, it has got some kick. When it came into the yard, we moved it and the tires spun when accelerating. So much so, some stones flew and hit the building next to us 30 metres away!!! Some Super Charger!!!

Am I to assume this is a '92 or later motor transplanted into the 1990? Or simply the super charger and EFI?? This is an upgrade I would be interested in doing to my truck. Any more info would be great.

That is a beauty! Just wonder how difficult it would be to swap over to supercharged....

Wow. I have Sambar Envy! So those early Supercharged trucks were fuel injected. Good to know.

I like the idea of a STI-spec Sambar. By the way, in my research I've found two trucks in Japan that have been "converted" to WRC rally specifications:

http://mieprism.ddo.jp/samber/ (warning...obnoxious music on front page and a really HUGE picture page that takes a long time to load! )

By the way, anyone know what the hp/torque specs are for the SC version versus the normal Sambar?

That is really nice. A friend of mine has a 3S engine out of a Celica in his Suzuki Carry, and another has a transplanted engine out of a Suzuki Cappachino (sp?). The Cappachino has a 660cc intercooled turbo setup he has squeezed about 120HP or so out of. Pretty deadly in such a small package.
I also saw a mini truck in a Japanese racing magazine (don't remember the make) that had a Chevy 350 in it. Exhaust tubes came straight out the bed.
I have an extra Carry sitting in my yard awaiting something to be done to it.....

Agreed, it definitely is a very clean looking truck. And I've never seen ANY kind of "for sale" ad that had over 80 pictures! They are now all on my hard drive for reference.

You lucky bugger. He's asking $9500, right? Is it like day and night compared to a regular mini-truck in power? It wont really go 100km/h without the foot on the floor, will it? Please fill me in! You are the closest i'll ever get to driving that truck!;);):D
Man, if i had the cash, i'd be driving it right now! I'd love to have that EFI!
You didnt notice if it had disc brakes on the back, did you?
You're one of few who will be able to drive a jem like that!

I think that price was right. It is only the third mini truck I've ever been in, but yeah, its got some jam. Driving down the on ramp to the highway I was almost giddy, easily keeping up with the other cars and could then even accelerate up to 120 - that's right, my foot not even on the floor! Didn,t notice the brakes. Really nice truck though, underneath looked new.

Wow. I can only imagine what that would be like! Does it sound like it rev's quite high on the highway? I know in my Acty, i have to be in 5th gear when i'm going 50-60km/h. When about did you shift into 5th with the supercharged subaru. Do you think you may purchase it?
    Thanks for the info,

Whoa. I've had my '90 Sambar (carb 660) to 120 kph, but the slightest incline or headwind puts it right back down to 100 kph. :(

  29. unclejemima

    unclejemima Member

Well, my 91 acty 660 carb must be underpowered, because for me to do 100km/h, i have to be BTTW (balls to the wall). 100km/h up a small hill...only in my dreams. More like 80km/h. I've had mine up to 110, but that was down a hill on a windy day with a 1/4 tank of fuel and no load! I've heard the stock Samba carbs are actually pretty fast, but if you can do 120km/h without your foot buried in the rubber floormat(aka supercharged), that my friend is real power, well i guess in a kei-truck sort of way ;)
When i drive my 04 echo hatchback 1.5L it feels like a ferrari after driving my Acty:D

    I stand behind the saying...
"It is more fun to drive a slow car fast...than a fast car slow!"
    Amen to that!;)

The engine didn't sound too wound up at posted highway speed 100-115, but from there on up you started to notice it more. Certainly there was more cab noise at that speed - there seemed to be a noticable breaking point for noise around the 100 mark if I'm remembering correctly (my motorbike has the same thing but is at 80k - I'm trying not to get the two mixed up). Do you notice that in the regular trucks? Shifting into 5th seemed a matter of how much you wanted the engine to scream before doing it...I mean you could at 80 or you could push it as far is it would go in 4th if you wanted...on the drive I went more conservative than not. I don't think I'm gonna get it, mostly a price thing, and my needs are mostly in the city, and I was wondering down the road if parts may be more difficult to get? Dunno. Except for the higher road noise it was a comfortable drive on the highway, holding its speed rather easily. Been thinking about the regular Sambar - Colin how has yours been?
