Mini Mits out of Storage

Hey all. Not sure if this is the right place, but I gotta start somewhere.

I recently started working on a Mighty Mits (1992, 2wd) and it has a few issues. First, it sounds like there's a zip-tie hitting the fan. I don't see anything obvious, but I'll keep looking.

Second, the idle goes low enough to stall out once it's up to temp. I can adjust the idle so it stays up, but I'd like to do it the right way eventually. Other threads on other cars mentioned the IAC, but it's not on this engine. I'll eventually do a carb rebuild once I find parts and gaskets.

I'll probably find stuff as I dig deeper into this project. I'm just looking for anything obvious to the forum, as I'm new to these trucks. Thanks!

I have the same idle issue. I've played with the stops but it's left me with too-high idle most of the time.

my motor smokes like a deamon so it hasn't concerned me, it's got bigger issues.

I'll be on the lookout for smoke, but so far so good.

I'm super new to these trucks, as I just learned they had 3 cylinders this morning, and found the access hatch in the bed this afternoon.

Any good sources for parts? I've found a few, but $150 for a carb rebuild kit seems kinda high. Also, I need wheels pretty bad. Any recommendations?

I'm running 13s off a VW instead of the oe 10" wheels. I don't recall details but mk1 or mk2 vw is a bolt pattern match. offset is a bit deep, I rub the struts without 5mm spacers. they'll be available this winter sometime if you're in the northeast. So will the smoking 550 and 3sp.

only parts I've gotten were direct from Mitsu, tail light lens was available from Japan. Search the forum for some parts vendors...

Well, it looks like I have 4x100 bolt pattern. I'm thinking ~12" rims with mild-tread tires. I have some leaky ones on there now, so I want to get those replaced (2 stock, 2 wide).

Also, the battery is dead. Whoever put it away used a group 51 battery, which is a bit too tall for my tastes, and doesn't quite fit the box. I'm not sure if I want to get another one, or put in a new mount with a more common (read: cheaper) battery size.

So it looks like we're going with a 22" tire and 14" rim from a Toyota Tercel (83-97). The wheels should be similar, but slightly larger. The back wheels will be fine, but I'll keep an eye on the front wheels when turning.

4x100 bolt pattern, 14x6 wheel size
    185/60R14 Tires

This is also a lot cheaper than ATV tires and wheels (~$370 for a set of 4 wheels/tires), and they will be on-road tires (good for use around our site)

And for the battery, we're going to cut out the old tray and install a group 24 battery tray. Replacements will be easy to find, and jumping it will be simpler.

The Tercel wheels do not fit. The tire size is right, but the backspacing is off by about 1.5 inches minimum. I sent the wheels back. One of our spare trucks has 12 inch rims, and I found some tires to fit those (I'll try to remember and post the size later).

Also of note: Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000 has the same bolt pattern (4x100), and probably a better backspacing. I might do something like that for the other truck.
