Cup Holder I love my Suzuki Carry and the only thing it lacked was a cup holder for those long rough runs. Here is my solution! ebay special.
for a cup holder i got a folding one from princess auto and mounted it to the ash tray front. it slides in and out as needed now!
Had my Carry out for a spin last night at -18ºC. Should have brought a scrapper and mittens. The heater cannot keep up. It will need a major insullation job. Windsheild was OK but all other windows iced up real good. Wrapped it in a blanket when I got home but I think it still caught a cold. Warmer tonight bommy -12ºC
Then you got problems. A good truck can roast you out in -30 weather. Make sure you have the proper thermostat. But more importantly flush the CRAP out of your heater core. In many cases they do not run anti-freeze in Japan. This leads to a LOT of corrosion and junk in the heater core and radiator. Also check the heater valve and make sure it is opening all the way. Lastly possibly a water pump and maybe replace the heater core. I drive in the winter with only a t-shirt many times. I have driven -40 and been plenty comfortable. Also water wetter is an additive that actually makes more heat from your heater. I wont get into technical details, but it works!!
sooke, bc I have had my Sambar since may 2009, love it. I do accurate mileage checks and get 36-38 mpg running around, 45 mpg on a sooke-port renfrew- sooke run in the summer.
I've flushed out my system when I got it and a thick, jelly like goo ran out. Now that's it's been flushed once it's fine at -10C with the heat running on 2-3, no ice on the inside. It was a bugger to bleed out the air though! However, if you get her up at highway speeds I run the heat full on, there isn't any insulation in these things and the wind chill really works against you ! I'll give her another flush in the spring and see what comes out again! I've driven 7000 plus kilometers since I got her in October and I've averaged anywhere from 7.1L/100km to 8.4L/100km depending on where and how I'm driving. I'm saving a ton on gas even though I'm using premium, but, premium runs $1.227/litre (about $US 4.45/gallon) around these parts right now :frustration: ! I'm into my second oil change now and running 5W30 with a NAPA gold oil filter...
ya when it was -40 stuff out, on the highway it was pretty cold on the feet!! cranked that heater up!
Flushed heater this afternoon, U should have seen the jelly fish that come out in front of everything else. I will see if it delivers more heat when we get another cold day.
Yep, sure sounds familiar little foot. If you're thinkin' along my lines, I'm wondering if there's any left in there still, the lines run everywhere so I figure on a springtime flush just in case!
Well to tell you the truth while doing this little flush I realized i'm going to need a radiator. So when I change the rad I will do a complete flush.
Hah, if I change the rad I'm going to find the biggest one that'll fit, I think the cooling on these guys is marginal for hot and high use ....
im dreading the day i gotta do that. toyota diesel + toyota long life red coolant... not cheap stuff.
Maybe because you have as many fins missing in your radiator as me. Trust me do not pressure wash your rad if it's more than 15 years old.
Heater better Had truck out in the cold and snow today Heater seems to work lots better. Didn't get stuck even though I tried. Had fun, love my new found toy and joy. Out there I have my toughts to myself and I can hear myself think. I leave at sun-up tomorrow
Add one more to the list. Actually, I've had my Suzuki dd51t for a year now and love it! I'm in Kitimat, BC. Anyone close by? Want to get together for bs session? All the best to my fellow minitruckers, Toni.
Nanaimo here too! Had a sambar truck, sold it and now have a suzuki every combi that's currently under the knife in my garage for some serious refinishing!
