I have a 1989 Honda Acty SDX 5speed 550cc here in NJ. i have a intermittent power loss under load. when i am on the highway around 90-100km in a small hill the acty loss speed to the point that i have to downshift. i know i dont have the most powerful truck ever but this issue is intermittent. I dont have idle issues or any trouble to start the car in the mornings.
    I replaced the spark plugs
checked rotor and cap (nothing wrong) but i cleaned the terminals
    replaced fuel filter
removed carefully the carburetor ( checked for any vacuum leak/diaphragm) cleaned it really well. it seems that the carburetor was rebuild in one point. i am not in expert with carburetors but I DONT KNOW IF IT IS NORMAL but when i fully open the throttle body side the other butterfly (by the metal mesh) does not open fully
    checked vacuum hoses
i checked the only one electronic\power valve in the carburetor with 12v and it clicks
I dont have black or white smoke
    i did a compression test 170 all 3 cylinders

the only that i can think of is the exhaust. it has an aftermarket exhaust so it does not have the 2 pipes going to rail and something else. i got the truck like that.

my other possibility is the lack of air into the air intake. i checked the air filter and it is fine but i cant not figure out where exactly is inlet of the fresh air (i know it goes to the frame rail)

    Thank you

With the lack of air you can easily check, just remove for a test the air filter for a test.
But as it is intermittent, it must be something different I assume, because either you get enough air or not, but not intermittent.
My guess is something eletric, and there the solneoid on the carb comes into the picture again. Maybe you test it again, it may work intermittendly. Have seen someyoutubes where such a valve worked intermittendly.
These 2 solenoids (on my model I have 2 of them) made me some trouble some years ago, and luckily I found here an expert who pointed that out to me that they have limited lifetime. Changed both of them (one was still o.k., but they are cheap) and the power was back and no more unburnt fuel.
Inlet for air is at the rear of the car (on my model year), there is the plastic container with the filter inside, close to the left rear wheel

Thank you shogun. I definitely will check the sensor on the carb but this time I will remove it to visually inspect it.

Use the car battery and and use the 2 wires from the solenoids and touch plus and minus for a second, then you see the solenoid moving and it should click. On my built year there are 2, see here a

I have a very similar problem on a '95 HA4. Stalling particularly while going uphill. Loss of power going up hill. Trouble restarting.
Replaced both solenoids in the carb and the condition did not improve. I tested solenoids once installed and they both clicked away. I did notice that the feed to my Slow Cut Carburetor Solenoid did not light up when tested. I am curious if there is a relay that feeds this solenoid or if this should be hot at all times. Any help would be appreciated.
