FYI 1991 Sambar SC Front weight: 860 lbs [390kg] Rear weight: 815 lbs [370kg] Vehicle weight: 1675 lbs [760 kg] Got this right from the Japanese Export Certificate. I was suprised to learn that there was more weight on the front than the back axle given that the engine is sitting out back. Just shows that Subaru did a good job engineering this little puppy.
Could the front weight capacity be taking into consideration, of two passengers at an average weight of 150 lbs? I believe other vehicle manufactures use this equation in establishing weight limit / specifications. tmikewww (tom)
No, this is the actual split of weight fr/rr as the vehicle sits. The two weights above 860lb + 815lb = 1675 lb [ the actual weight of the vehicle. The GVW is higher than the actual weight of the vehicle, 2690 lb [1220kg] to be exact.
Do the math. If the truck weighs 760 kg and the front axle was only rated for 390kg and the rear 370kg then you would have zero weight left over for anything. As I stated 390+370 = 760kg - the weight of the truck NOT the GVWR. GVWR [1220 kg] - vehicle weight [760 kg] = carrying capacity of 460 kg including cargo, fuel, passengers.
