Hello to all....new to the site. I have been thinking about getting a mini truck for a while now. There was a guy I know that bought 2 containers and sold all of them but 2 to keep on his farm. He has a carryall and a autozam. He has had them for several years and his chicken house workers are the ones been driving them.

The autozam has 113xxxkm on it and it wont start right now. The truck has a/c which he said worked when he bought it. It is in pretty good shape being been used in chicken house business. The guy that drove it last came out while I was looking at it and said he didn't know what had happened to it but the had been using a hair dryer to get it started???? I have no idea as to why as his english was not that good.

Would you keep looking or buy it and see if I can get it going. Like I said it is a decent ol' truck body and interior wise. Will these motors go over 100000 miles like a car or truck?

Thanks to all for any advice!!!

i'd buy it in a heartbeat if it turns over. carb cleans easily
t-belt, water pump, tune up is needed on all of them

as long as you work on it yourself is is cheep fun

I am going to see if he will let me check it out futher but he wants the starter off it to go on the suzuki. I am going to see if I can see if it is getting spark and go from there before he takes the starter off.

    What will a starter cost?

The truck is in a lot better shape than my cousins 2 and they have 1/2 the miles. I would love to have one with a/c.

Could I get my money back if I bought it and ended up having to part it out?

    Thanks, Kade

At $1500 almost anything is worth it...if they were using a hairdryer to start it ,it sounds like a simple choke issue...the parts are easily worth 1500...if it's in great shape otherwise an engine rebuild and some extras might run around $2500 and you have a truckwith a new engine for 4k

I went back out today and got it running. It would not start on either but it would hit. Took the plugs out and they were about the worst looking plugs I have ever seen. I cleaned them up the best I could and got it to run. It was blowing out black smoke but I figure a good tuneup will cure that and get the carb set. Black is better than blue in my book. I am going to pick it up Friday and I will get some pics of the $1500 truck. Thanks for the advise guys!!!!! I will be looking at a lift and some tires so ya'll point me in the right direction.

    Thanks, Kade

    This cracked me up:

    Hello Kade,

Sorry to get back late we got hit by another Typhoon and a few more earthquakes….seems the world coming apart sometimes…lol.

I just noticed after typing in the VIN you have a test model vehicle that was used for new options. Birth Date 1991/July/09. MT 5 speed, PT 4WD, Auto Free Wheel Hub, 42HP 4 Valve STD Steel Roof, Outside Paint Code: (UG) Inside Paint Code: AA2 3 Panel Rear. You might want to keep her after all…lol

    Looks like I have a rare one...lol

It looks like I am going to have about $3000 in it after it is all said and done. But that is lift, tires, new afco's, paint, tune up, timing belt, water pump, all new cv boots, new diff bushings, misc body parts, misc interior parts, and the cost of the truck.

Word has already got out that I have been working on one and I have 2 to get running for a guy after I get done with mine...lol

lol,,,,,If I can remember to bring my camera home for work.

Looks like the engine is going to need a rebuild. Truck has no power, smoke like a freight train, and has about 30lbs of compression.

I am worried about finding some oversized pistons if I have to bore it:frustration:

check your valve clearances..tight valves will have low compression and power

I will try that tonight and see what they are. I am about 99.9% sure it is the rings but who knows.

lol could be like the golf course. they dumped a whole gallon of oil in the crank case and blew the pistons and seals in a daihatsu

Got the head off and there wasn't any ring groove that I could catch with my finger nail. Hopefully I can put new bearings, rings, and gaskets and call it good. It was for sure the easiest motor I ever pulled.

Rod and main bearings still look good. Looks like a hone and rings will fix it up. Only thing rings come 1.5 &1.2 or 1.5 & 1.5? What is the difference?

I am amazed by how clean it is considering how dirty it was on the outside..lol. It had some bad oil leaks!

I wish I would have looked the head over before I ordered my parts. I bet the broke valve didn't help any:frustration : IMG_20111008_135354.jpg
