Took this picture of a S81 with this factory installed generator. It had a pull knob in the cab below drivers seat which kicked in the generator. I suppose the shifter between the seat had to be in -N- then place the shifter in 1st and let out the clutch. Ive seen a 2wd before that had the generator installed where the front drive shaft should be. This one being 4x4 the generator was mounted to the passenger side transfer case next to the rear drive shaft. I only found one outlet, it was mounted right above the gas pedal for what ever reason. Pretty interesting set up.
Yep, they are pretty handy in the old days as the amps were around 15-20 amp compareted to a cigarette lighter 12v 500W invetor type these days. Actaully we still carry parts for the generator for the complete S80 Series. Cheers, Don www.yokohamamotors.com Parts www.yokohamamotors.net
I have a 92 S83 that has the generator built in. To run it, you put the transfer case in neutral, engage the generator cable and put the transmission in 4th gear. The engine speed is controlled with a drop down threaded rod that pushes down on the accelerator pedal. There are led lites to indicate when you have the right speed. The out put on mine is 13 amps at 100 volts. I have run a skil saw with it. Not enough jam to run a small air compressor though. It is very handy around the farm.
S80 Series Generator Option Hello All, Here is how it works off the PTO Drive. According to the parts database there were three different outputs. 15-17-18amp. See the attached diagram for the whole system. Yes, some of the parts new are still available. Cheers, Don www.yokohamamotors.com Parts www.yokohamamotors.net
It amazess me that you can still get parts like this Don. I was thinking about this last week for my Carry. Would be way cool wip out the electric chainsaw and plug it into the truck, in front of the guys at the hunt camp. "WHAT THE F**K!!!"..... A DBT water pump on my DDT and an accesories sensor for 3TRPM on the existing system. Just bolt it to the front of the engine with a drag link. Then I decided to mod the spare pump that I have. A winter project maybe.
