CV boots

Discussion in 'Daihatsu Hi jet' started by shawndoe2000yahoo.com, May 20, 2024.

  1. Mine are cracked so need to order new ones.
Do all versions of Hijet 4x4 1990-2007 use the same sized boots?

  4. Thanks, I purchased an identical set on eBay from the atv place. I then realized I didn’t have the necessary tools to take off suspension parts. Checked around and most mechanics won’t do that kind of service. They will however change out the whole or partial cv axles with new boots. I did find one place and they quoted me a price of $600 plus tax. ‍♂️

  5. Got myself a much needed air impact wrench and did the job myself. Ran into an issue with the first axle. Took the whole axle out, replaced boots however getting it to go back into the transmission was a freaking nightmare. But once I found the “sweet spot” (a day later) it went right in. Lesson learned, so with the 2nd axle I disassembled the axle at the 2nd knuckle next to the tranny. I installed the inner boot while under the truck. It made the job much easier. That’s a tip to anyone planning to take on the task.

I’ve struggled more getting cvs out than in, if you keep the opening on the circlip facing down you should have an easier time getting it back into the differential.
