I have done the usual searches everything leads to cleaning column contacts for turn signals BUT will cleaning those contact fix the temps and gas level gauge issue?

First, the fuel gauge started bouncing between empty and half. It often sits near empty but occasionally jumps up while driving.

Second, lately when I try to fill the tank, the fuel backs up almost immediately as if it's full, but then slowly goes down over the next 30 seconds or so.
I don't actually have any idea how much fuel is in the tank anymore.

My working theory...

I found it popped quite a bit on deceleration compared to the stock exhaust probably due to the lower back pressure, so I re-tuned the carb, made quite a difference, performance feels better and few if any pops.
