I bought some new 14x7 4x110 5+2 offset rims the other day. & looking for tires to go with them. I think I did my research on what I'm looking for to put on my truck. but I'm not 100% sure so I'm reaching out to who will know. tire size 175/65/14 . rims size 14x7.
Probably best to just bolt a new wheel on and ensure it clears the strut first. Also ensure the centrebore works as Hijet wheels I've seen with 110mm spacing have a 66.1mm centrebore. A 7" wheel generally needs a minimum 195 and ideal 205 or 215 width tyre. I suspect you will need to increase the ride height to clear the front fender opening and use a very low aspect tyre. I use 175/75/13 tyres on with 13 x 5 +40mm wheels with 66.1 centrebore (21.6" tyre) and they work and clear perfect on a standard ride height. If you are not going to use the truck on the road at speed, perhaps not having the correct centrebore won't be as important to allow balancing the wheel/tyre but, I suspect with a 2wd truck, you'll be using it on-road a lot. The wheel will only be supported by the studs if the centrebore is too large for the hub and will be hard to balance and centre with just the studs. I've heard some use "filler rings" to get the centrebore to 66.1... If I remember correctly, about a 23" tyre diameter is about max without hitting the front fenders, probably less if your springs have sagged over the years...
I have 1.5" spacers on it so the wheels will clear everything. I only want to go with 20" tires, maybe 21 ,but no taller. I don't plan on lifting my 2wd so my aspect can't be too high. I'm kinda trying to keep a lower look rather than a lifted one. so what would the aspect be for a 20",21"tire for 14x7 rims?
With 14" x 7" wheels, 195/50 = 21.7", 205/45 = 21.3", 195/45 =20.9" stock = ~ 21.1" so the speedo will be just a bit optimistic. 35 aspect ratio isn't recommended as it is more than 3% difference over stock and can affect handling...
I think 175's might be technically too narrow for 7" wheels, but I suspect the bead will seat OK... the 65 aspect ratio and tyre diameter (23" vs stock 21.1") should give you a speedo reading at actual 60mph of about 55mph.
now I have 19" tires &11" rims. 23" tires wouldn't give me enough room if I was to hit bumps or pot holes on my 2wd hijet. at least up front. so I want to use a 20" tire. I have 14x7 rims . I have a 5" back space with out the wheel spacers on. with, I have 6 1/2 " the rims have a 5+2 offset. Now what size of tire will fit these rims do you think? i need a 20"x14-7 tire. what's that in metric?
195/45 14 will= 20.9" Sorry, 20" x 14" - 7 doesn't make much sense to me... Perhaps it is 20" tyre diameter, 14" wheel, 7" width wheel? No aspect ratio... Because you have the spacers on, the wheel will hit the fender when turning with 23" tyres. Stock, mine has about 5 3/4" back space clearance to the shock with the stock 12" 40mm offset wheels and 145/80 12 tyres. You might find your 7" wide wheels with 5+2 offset will rub on the shock, so I would install a wheel to see if it clears, keeping in mind the tyre also needs to clear as well...
Yes. And, with 7" wide wheels, the backspace is about 1.5" closer to the strut (without the 1.5" spacers) which is why it is not a bad idea to check out with the wheel mounted. That wheel is actually too wide for a 175/65/14 tyre 5 to 5.5 " is considered ideal. For 7" wheel, 195 is considered minimum, ideal is 205 or 215. The 175/65 may mount OK on a 7" wheel; I don't know how safe it will be or if the bead will stay sealed OK under load. I suspect you may need the spacers, and perhaps a smaller (20.9") diameter set-up like the 195/45 14 to clear the fender? Not all tyres are created equal as far as diameter is concerned when mounted, so it will depend upon brand, tread height etc. - you'll need to research the tyres you are planning to use a bit to determine what the manufacturer says about their specific diameters for a 7" wheel...
I have 1.5" spacers. thank you for your advise. I will listen. I'll have to send the tires back and swap them out for the correct ones. it's pretty complicated trying to figure this out when you can't read the size you need. And these tire places don't have these mini trucks in their lists of vehicle match ups . I'll go back and see what they have in those sizes you mention . thanks once again for your help.
I received my new rims today and wow! they look way too big! please tell me if they are too big for my 92 hijet. they are 14x7 5+2 offset. I have a 1.5" spacers on right now . the rims are almost the same size as my stock tires and rims
Does the wheel clear the strut and spring clear the strut when you mount it? 7" seems very wide to me for this truck. if you are set on that wide a wheel, you may need to raise the front 1 1/2" ~ 2" or so to clear the fender. I'm not a big fan of doing that, myself... Others with experience of installing 14 x 7 wheels might have better insight on how much (if any) you would need to raise it...
1 1/2" to 2" lift kit with progressive rate springs will give the lift you need and a better ride. Goldstarparts.com

I'm having a real hard time find wheels and tires for my truck. Q: will205/60/13 work on a 13x5.5 rim?
on a 13" 5.5" wheel, 165 is minimum, 175 - 185 is ideal, 195 is maximum. 195/60 Diameter will be about 22.6" 185/60 is about 21.7" 175/60 is about 21.3". I found (in BC) 175/70 13" is a more common size for a 5.5" wheel, which is what I have.
No lift kit, these wheels and tyres fit and clearance is good on my truck. I've never encountered any fender rim issues with wheels turned and the springs compressed under normal road use, however I'm not off-roading. The tyre sidewall sticks out the side of the fender with the wheels straight by about 1/4" with the +40 offset 13" wheels. These tyres are 22 1/2" tall but are snow tyres, so all-seasons could be a bit less? Tyres of the same size can be slightly different in diameter, I've found.
I apologize; I went out and measured my wheels, and they are 5", not 5.5" This won't affect the diameter, but will affect the backspacing. One of the importers down there may have imported some used Japanese aftermarket wheels 13" x 5" 40mm+offset 110 x 4 wheels (some of those wheels are pre-drilled for several bolt patterns) to sell to people who can't find any 12" tyres any more for the stock wheels. I suspect they are quite common in Japan. I'm very satisfied with the look of the 13" wheels and tyres. There are different rim profiles over there... the ones I have are marked "B" and the tyres (Chinese Rovelo) I have are also marked "B" for the bead. Here, some tires and wheels seem to be marked "J" or "JJ". From what I can gather, "JJ" is an extended bead used for offroad and perhaps a "B" rim would be too shallow to keep the "JJ" tyre on the rim. However, I heard this third-hand so it could well be inaccurate. A good tyre-wheel person or someone at an importer would probably be able to give you better information and direction on this. Complicated eh? Good luck!
Trying to replace stock Acty 2WD rims & tires with Honda/Enkei VX rims (5X13") and Nankang 175/50x13" tires. Requires 1/4" spacer to clear springs (no lift nor lowering). BUT with flat spacers lug nuts only attach about 1/2 way. I'm thing longer wheel studs but that looks like a lot-o-work. Would really appreciate any suggestions, options, instructions.
Wheels with less positive offset and doing away with the spacers would let you clear the springs, however the tyres will stick out past the body, perhaps about 1/4" ~ 1" depending upon the offset on the wheels used... My aluminium wheels are +40 and the studs are just long enough - no spacers. The tyres stick out about 1/4". Someone said Daihatsu's have slightly more clearance to the springs than some others, but I don't know if that is true or not.
Roadster- you are a wealth of info! Allow me to clarify my question. With Covid, shipping container backlogs, and living on an island my options were (and are) limited. Different back-spaced wheels and Daihatsus notwithstanding, I already have the Acty ('92 HA3), rims (Honda/Enkei 5x13), mounted tires (175x50x13), and spacers (1/4") that allow wheels to clear springs. My concern is that I need more lug nut thread on lug bolts. I'm not knowledgeable about "extended thread lug nuts" but doubt they would fit my rims as there is almost no room surrounding lug bolts. I am seeing after-market installations that replace lug bolts (replaced from outside hub) or studs (replaced from inside hub) with longer versions. Alas, I have been unable to determine which type (and size) is on the Acty before I can locate a longer replacement. Many thanks
I’d look at installing extended length 12X1.5 studs. I’d knock out one of the stock ones, by leaving a lug nut on it and tapping it out with a hammer. That will leave undamaged and reinstallable if you have to. I’m sure you can get extended studs, and fairly confident that the knurled diameter which insert in the flanges on the axle are the same. But not certain of that. So, you would need to take one out to measure it. If you can buy longer replacements you tap out the old studs, and then use the lug nut and a few washers to pull the new studs in and seat them. There are quite a few videos on YouTube on how to do it.
