Had the old rattling water pump replaced with a new one but there's an annoying high pitch noise everytime I run the Carry (F6A 12valve engine). The mech said its just normal because the old timing belt is adjusting to the new water pump's cogs and the noise will just vanish eventually. Is he saying the truth or he just reinstalled the timing belt too tight? Does the Carry's belt tensioner adjusts automatically? If not, what is the correct tension if adjusted manually. Thanks in advance.
Bull %^$#*. Id have someone else look at it. I had a water pump and belt done recently on a 95 Suz., nice and quite.
Found it in the Daihatsu forum. The squeal was from the belt being too tight. See post #4 http://www.minitrucktalk.com/showthread.php?t=4677
