93 daihatsu hijet s83p. Originally belonged to my boss and ended up in a scrap yard. My landlord bought it for 700 switch a fuel and vacuum line runs like a champ. He drove it for 2 years then sold it to me for 1600 payments whenever I wanted. I have had her for 3.5 years now with only money in tires headlight and i got struts today.. She is rpugh but I love her and feel like it was a good deal
I found mine on a lot where I live. The guy deals specifically with Kei Class vehicles. I got my 1995 Daihatsu Hijet S100P for $7,000, but after taxes, registration, and import fees the grand total was around $8,100. I know I overpaid for it by a few grand, but I have no issue paying a bit extra for a clean and straight Hijet.
My 97 Daihatsu Hijet s100p was $2,500 + $2,000 to ship + $1,000 maintenance/servicing in Japan + $600 import tax + $500 for various import/broker/paperwork fees + $500 for 5 tires shipped from Japan + $100 to get the truck home from the port + $200 to get the AC charged, equals... $7,400. Has 19,000 original miles. Paid a lot more than I originally planned but it runs like a top and I truly love it. This little Kei truck will add years to my life because of the joy it brings to my heart!
I paid $6700.00 for my van back in 2021. Bought it from Mayberry Minitrucks in Mt. Airy NC. Had it delivered to my home for a modest fee (2+hours drive). Drove it for 2+ years with no real issues, dumped some time and money into doing preventive maintenance in the beginning which paid off well. Drove it to florida 2x, 11 hours each way. Drove it to Atlanta for Caffein and Octane one year (5+ hours). Drove it to my office in Raleigh NC (3+hours each way). Finally had some running issues and swap on a Nibbi carb and a turbo exhaust from Japan. Wow! It screams and keeps up with most traffic (to 60 mph anyway).
I paid $7500 for my 1998 Subura Sambar recently at Mayberry Minitrucks. It had less than 30,000 miles on it. It cost $395 to get it tagged, titled, and sales tax.
Listing price was $6000 for my Acty van. Add $900 to ship it to my place. I'm still paying mine off so it'll be over $8000 from interest unless I can pay it off sooner.
Paid $8600 for my '95 Suzuki Carry. Bought it at JPN Auto Imports in Franklinton N.C. Only had just shy of 29,000mi on the odometer. Extremely happy with the service Izumi-san gave, and happy with my truck!
For the truck in my profile (KS3 (2WD) Subaru Sambar Super Deluxe Classic) we paid $6300 for the vehicle, $2100 for the shipping to Hawai'i so $8500 when it hit the dock here. Then CBP duty / tax, import broker, etc. Finally on the road and registered it was just at $10k I believe. Vehicle only had 31,000 km on it though, and was (is!) in really good shape.
just a touch over $5k, had some issues getting it insured but eventually got it done, was actually from a dealer, they wanted a bit more but I beat them up for it because it had a handful of clear issues that would need to get sorted out, but I drove it home so not that bad!
I paid $138 in a Japanese auction, another $2500 getting all the parts that could go wrong replaced and shipping to here. Spent another 2k getting it like I wanted it. This was 6 or so years ago and times have changed.
Local purchase for $7500. Super clean with the equivalent of 12,000 miles. Changed belt, fluids, plugs and filters. All looked good coming out. I have put on 6000 miles. 4 wheel drive works well combined with new Open Country rubber. Can’t justify a wrap or paint job.
Bought a Suzuki carry from a local farmer who had bought it for his aging father, but he passed and it had sat for a year, put a battery in and away she went, it does need ball joints on the front, but that's it. Scissor and dump bed and both front and rear diff locks, $2,000.
Yep as I have been enjoying ADV for many years. I am down to two 150cc scooters after owning many motorcycles for almost 70 years.
I’m $4g and about $700 to ship up from ore to wa . 1997 minicab 37000… mint! No rust like new inside an out has hand made teak wood bed.
Bought another one off of Facebook marketplace. $2500 and runs great (though not real fond of the cold morning starts). Will take another $1500 to make it how I would like it (rims, interior clean up, etc)
How about a photo of the teak wood bed? I have built pickup beds out of PT lumber and PT plywood over the years. Built a plywwod camper on an old Chevy half ton and my wife and I drove it down to Belize for my sister and her husband who were farmers there.
