It is time for me to buy a trailer to take the Suzuki to other properties. I've seen plenty 6x12 single (3,500 lb) axle trailers under $1,000. Is a well built single axle trailer up to the task of highway travel or should I spend the money on a dual axle? What are you using to take your truck places?

Suzi-q, that 3500# axle has to carry the weight of the trailer, say 800-1000# depending on what it is contructed of and the weight of your truck at 1600# I would guess. This leaves you approx. 900# for additional cargo and any shock load from road conditions, more than likely this trailer has 2500# springs under it,15" tires and is contructed out of 3 x 2 x 3/16 angle and the frame will bow along with the axle after time and load.Look for a trailer constructed out of rectangular box tubing or channel with a torsion style axle under it with a 5000# rating. This would be my choice for trouble free towing.

Hello suzi-q. I don't know where you are but you can buy a 16' tandem axle for $1,000. You will get more use out of that than a 12'. Just my 2 cents.
