Currently on 12x4 rims and 145R12 tires which are getting bald. I found a good deal on 14x5.5 Miata wheels with almost brand new tires mounted. I picked up one just to be sure and they fit fine in the back. Up front I'm not sure about rubbing on corners/bumps until I drive it but I think I'll go for it and see. New tires are 165/60R 14. I would have liked something with less sidewall but it could do nicely.

You should be good as long as the diameter is 23" or less on those. I have 175/70x13 on mine and no rubbing. I want to get some 15 with 4.5 or 5 inch wide and run a low profile tire thats a bit wider. I could use some more performance oriented rubber for Tail of the Dragon. Too much slidin and squeelin with the current tire setup. Since we are 4x100 theres a lot of choices. I think the miata have the right offsets usually as well.

Cool -- it is 23" OD give or take -- and 4x100. The center bore is even the same.

I was hoping for Minilites (8-spoke) but it's turning out to be more than I wanted to spend on this. For these Miata wheels, I'll take the extra I would have spent and get my son a dirtbike

Not sure what to do with the center caps  These came with the logos on them, not the Mazda wording. If I can find time, I'll sand those off and maybe add a Zuke logo then clearcoat them. Or leave them off for now?

Well no dice on the front w/o spacers :( Will try once more with 1" spacers before calling it quits on the Miata daisies.

Jacked up -- the tire hits the strut. Lowered down it's worse

Maybe back to hunting for Minilites. I also found a set of nice, super light Volk wheels in 13 that could work.

Well…..bummer. Looks like the offset on the Mazda wheels is 45mm, same as the factory’s? I would have bet they would fit!
Volk makes a great wheel, probably forged? Like you said, super light! Grab them if you can!!

Wow! What struts are those? The OEM struts don't have a spring perch like that, or at least mine don't.

These are bascially what mine look like:

I have at least 1.5" of space between the strut and the tire. Also, the factory offset for the Wagon R 13" wheels on there is 45. Maybe someone swap on some other struts at some point?

Never mind, I forgot you have a 99 spec van. I guess they changed some stuff.

I tried 1" spacers (4x100). They take 12-1.5 lug nuts to match the Miata wheel, and the 12-1.25 original lug nuts to hold the spacer on the hub. The center bore is a match.

They do stick out a bit ... and slight rub against the front at full turn

How bad does that look without wheel arches?

Only needed on the front or did you do the rears to match? I think you need some fancy wheels arches and body kit now!

So the rear doesn't need spacers -- they bolt right up as-is. But then the front might be a little wider. Would you put spacers on the rear too?

The 1" spacers are too much up front. So I ordered a couple more to try: 15mm and 20mm. We shall see .....

    100%

    I checked the spare and it's a 14 ( with 125/70D14 Yoko ).

Trying not to go down the rabbit hole with too many spendy projects. Speakers and radio are done, roof rack is on, steering wheel parts are here and hopefully this is it.

I was going to try a rear hitch but only for dump runs with the utility trailer, since it would never tow boats :(

Well the spacers arrived. Besides the 1", I tried a 20mm (about 3/4") and a 15mm. With the 20mm, the tires clear the strut but they do hit the inside back of the front bumper at full turn. Now with the 15, I feel like these would work ..... but the Suzuki studs stick out too far past the surface of the spacer. The lug nuts are short enough, but I'd either need shorter studs, or longer studs and a different kind of spacer that just has the holes in it (no studs).

On an (almost) 30-yo van, although I do have the tools, I'm not optimistic about putting new longer studs in these front hubs. There's plenty of longer M12-1.25 studs available but not hubs. Worst case I could live with a slight rub at full turn since that would only be parking lot speed .... or see if I could make room in the wheel well? I found a nice set of 13" Minilites but they are on 175/50R13 tries so I'll actually end up with a smaller diameter and I want slightly larger.
