This is the rod that selects your airflow. (Defrost, center vents, floor, mix, etc) This is common to kink and not operate the flaps properly. If you can't adjust where your air comes out, this is likely the problem. When replacing, make sure your flaps operate smoothly by hand. I recently had one kink on me. Once that kink gets in the wire its toast. I tried to bend it back but kept kicking in the same place. So I just bent it so I have floor/defrost in one position and dash vents in another position. I cant get just floor anymore. Thats ok. Still warms everything up nice.
Yup, they do not last once they kink the first time. IT becomes a permanent weak spot and kinks again. If you reach under the dash you can always move the flaps by hand! This seems to be a common problem.....
