    Hello all,

I haven't been on this forum for quite some time since I thought my plan to acquire a MicroVan was no longer possible after Quebec banned any new import of Right Hand drive vehicle..... until I realized the Microvan I had my eyes on was sold in some European countries (hence LEFT hand drive) in a slightly altered shape and bigger engine.
Actually there was e new post yesterday form Misterturbo (key cars) advertising one for sale but RHD.
So my first question goes to importers on the eastern side of Canada: Do you deal with Germany, Polland, and or Italy at all? As it seems most Libero's were sold there?
Then, I'd really like to be in touch with Sambar, Libero, Domingo Microvan owners around Montreal as I'd really like to have the oportunity to seat in one of them just to make sure that I actually fit!! and of course share a mutual interest.
    Many thanks :)
    Franck

Thanks! How tall are you? I'm 6"2 but I found out the height isn't necesaraly what's important e.g: I got a 1979 Westfalia VW bus that I must sell due to driving position issue whilst a friend of mine half an inche taller is comfortable (same original seat). Torso and leg length differences.... That's it!
I'd be so disapointed not to fit in the suby Libero being the only descent European import microvan option! Franck

Finding a good quality 15 year old vehicle from Germany is 100X harder than Japan. Amoung the many challenges, the major problem is rust. They put mountains of salt on their roads.

Yep.... :;-( I'm aware of this. Although their T.U.V is rather strict. Anyway... looks like I'm gonna have to deal with the hunt and the import myself. Sadly, I don't speak German... well that's a good start! Thank you Quebec SAAQ !!!!!!!! (*^)(*^)(*^)(*)(*&

You might want to search in France first. The Libero (Domingo) was sold there as Vanille. Not sure how popular they were , but its worth a shot ;)

Very very very few! Mt family who live there never saw a single one on the road and I spotted only one in poor condition for sale the past six months. What a shame.... Communication would have been way easier. So far, I found a couple Libero's in Germany with low mileage but there were both too new (1998 & 1999).

I figured they were quite rare. Depending on how badly you want one, you could always source LHD parts and convert one. That's if you have the time, $, and patience.

Hmmm.... I don't feel very comfortable with the conversion route. Time and $$ is what I run out of most of the time!!! If rust is an issue in Germany, I'm left with the italian Libero..... And my better half speak the language. Could be an asset.
Speaking of which, Look what I found ..... A customised Libero with custom canvas roof and custom interior. Makes me think of a mini Popemobile!!! It's very low mileage and very expensive (13,000 Euros).

I bet you do.... I'm now even more confident I'll find myself comfy in a Libero / Sambar. Can't wait to seat in one of them!

Hey nice find ! It could be a mini Popemobile :D It even has headlight washers !! Wonder if it might be 129 K ??? Ya, 13K Euros is very pricy, not to crazy about the interior colours myself.
Another nice feature that the Libero has is that the front seats turn backwards.

Thanks! I asked the seller if it's a LHD.... But according to trim and name, I think it's a japanese version :-(
    You too have a VW?

Yes that is a decent price, but Frank2cv is looking for a LHD unit since Quebec no longer allows RHD vehicles to be registered there.

A bit flashy for me too and what a wrong choice to go with the blue canvas roof!!
Really like the swiveling seats. I found 21 Liberos for sale in E.U. ... I keep on looking

Good luck, I'm sure you'll find something. This is also a perfect excuse for a EURO TRIP :D

I just feel like blaming the w.....ers driving RHD Skylines and other overpowered useless sport cars who are directly responsible for the ban.....:frustration:

Yep.... Like Berlin to Hamburg and then Halifax to Montreal (that if crossing the ocean on a Roll-on/Roll-off). Wouldn't mind that at all!

Oops, sorry, should've realized that RHD was out for you. I guess that even if it's registered in another province it's a no go?

The Van I have is a Suzuki Every I think, it has an aftermarket Japanese body kit to make it look like an old transporter.

VERY NICE!!! I personaly have a crunch on the 'classic' body kit found on Sambars but the bigger bumper of the Libero will prevent any modification I guess. Looks cute as is anyway.

Blame your socialist government. You would think that with the highest income tax/ taxation levels in the country (by far), they would at least give you some value for your money and allow you to drive what you want.

Ahh, it needs a butt load of work I'm afraid, the fiberglass needs fixing for the cracks and a re spray is needed, but, not in the winter! Still and all, it's fun to drive and people seem to really either like it or don't know what to say about it because it's so strange and small :D:cool:! I like it a lot better than the stock body, but, if a 4WD, RHD, Domingo showed up with a Combi Kit on it, I'd go for that for sure :)!

Well, If those drivers didn't cost anything to begin with... I'd still be shopping around for a RHD. As per taxation, I'm still better off than in the U.K so I'm not complaining particularly if you're a parent. Anyone in the UK paying for daycare surely know what I mean! F.

here's one just like mine in finland. i'm about 180cm tall and i fit in my van easily.
upper right corner of the website is a button for english version of the site.

Translation of the faults in this car: 4wd doesn't always engage and idle speed is vandering up and down.
    otherwise it seems good...
