Hey guys, Just bought a 1991 Suzuki Carry and it has some creaking in the steering shaft it seems. It doesn't happen all the time, it seems to happen more commonly on slow, tight turns. I looked at the service manual, but still don't entirely understand how this is constructed, or what is the likely culprit here. Has anyone dealt with this before, or have any suggestions for diagnosing it further? Attached a photo from the manual circling what seems to be creaking (you can feel the vibrations in it when it happens).
I have a 1990 Carry that had some creaks in the steering and clutch pedal. Lubricated both, problems solved. For the steering shaft, I took off the plastic covers beneath the steering wheel and just squirted oil on the shaft and let it ooze in place. A bit dripped onto the floor mat. Easy fix, quick and cheap. Kevin in NC
