Anybody just have...basically, a shell of a mini truck? Just cab, bed, frame? Or any engineless and transmissionless trucks? Or just engineless? I'm not quite looking to buy right at the moment, but am curious to see what's out there.
You might try contacting the companies that supply used parts. They may have a truck they pulled the engine/transmission out of that they would be willing to sell. However, I've also heard that the parts trucks are brought in cut in half.
Ok. Thanks. As for the cutting in half thing; it'd be super unsafe, but I'd be highly tempted to weld the frame back together.
Ooh...you could do a stretch limo mini truck. Or THIS! Seriously, I suspect the main issue you're going to run into is that you're still going to have to pay for all the shipping cost. As Jason said, you might want to hit up some of the guys that do a lot of parts.
Here's one for you http://cgi.ebay.com/Diahatsu-4WD-Mi...oryZ1269QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
woooo....she's rough. It being a LHD model it's probably a three speed. Making a new bed would be easy but it also has a highly ventilated cab. Still, if it were cheap enough..... Hey, the guy has a "forklift to load (it) on your trailer"
Brakes Maybe thats the braking system. Could be it was fred flintstones truck. Says he has two, together maybe they would make one?
Whoa, I wonder how much shipping would be? Almost actually a tad too rough for my taste. If it was in MN, I'd be bidding.
Uship said $483... I still think I will just buy a pre-'82 truck. If shipping from japan-the guy selling them is around a grand, customs is a few hundred, an old 2wd 550 can't cost too much.
Haha, yeah.. that quote seemed incredibly high. I was thinking about buying a Ford Sierra Sapphire rolling chassis from the pacific northwest and was quoted about $1,000 to transport it. Almost wish I'd bought that car... Colin
Sierra=XR4TI, correct? I think I'm just going to buy a pre '82 truck, in running shape, from japan, next year. I was told I could have one in the US for about 2 grand.
The Sapphire is the sedan variant of the MkII Sierra - it's essentially the same underpinnings, but it's much less eyecatching. I was thinking of putting a fairly stock EFI 5.0 in it, AC, some heated leather seats, and a carputer. Would make an awesome daily driver, but I realized I'd never get anything done because I've got way too many projects. Colin
