Just a note for anyone interested in or having difficulty in acquiring a new Ignition Coil for a 1992 Subaru Sambar, or any other similar coil.
The local Subaru dealer wanted 122.xx for a replacement coil. I went to your local FLAPS dealer (friendly local auto parts supplier) and found that the igntion coil from a 2000 Dodge Caravan is identical for $80.xx.
Now! The electrical connector plug is different but you should be able to tear one off any junked Caravan of the same vintage.
I went this route because I had trouble driving over anything wetter than a damp sponge without the electrical system fading out on me.
I'm still in need of a distributor cap. I found that an 86 Suzuki Samurai distributor cap looks identical BUT even with extreme interior gouging it just won't quite fit. perhaps with a little more effort maybe... but it was raining and I needed to get the rig back together.
The reason I get wet so easily is the PO had raised the body 2" and so he created large gaps in the body sheet-metal covering the frame. Just let that be a warning to anyone thinking of doing a body lift kit without replacing the splash barriers.
    Good Luck! David

Needing a coil right now and this post has saved me at least 120 bucks if it's true! Does the coil have to be grounded to the frame? Don't know too much about them. Thanks

I get my parts from Impex in Japan. Usually get them in under a week and prices are usually way lower then any other places in North America

Can anyone help me with my 84 sambar? It spits and sputters then stalls once it's warmed up

I've found my coil parts number, I was out today with a mechanic friend and we narrowed it down to low to no spark so I need a new coil. My truck is a 2 cylinder with coil to plug set up but I can't find anything! Can anyone lead me in the rite direction?

Amayama is just as good as Impex except they don't do the exchange rate differential every single time. You buy it, they find and ship it. Not buy, pay a few more cents the next day, wait for a shipping quote, accept and pay for shipping and then pay the differential again
