Thought I'd start a thread for posting tools related to Kei truck ownership. Some might be things that make maintenance and repairs easier or maybe just "Made in Japan" tools that go with Kei trucks like shrimp and mayonnaise on pizza or Ultraman and kaiju

Since I'll be doing all my fluid changes, I'll start with this KTC (Kyoto Tool Company) 64mm oil filter wrench/socket. I previously used one of the common adjustable style wrenches but like the dedicated size wrench/sockets much better

Gotta have some JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screwdrivers. To be honest the long 150mm screwdrivers in this set are a little long for my taste. If you were only going to have one JIS screwdriver, I would get the 100mm blade +2 Megadora Impacta. It's JIS plus the benefit of being an impact driver if needed. You can usually find them for around $18

I have that screwdriver set! They are very nice, and I agree that the big ones are longer than they need to be. I haven't noticed much of a correlation between the depth of the hole a screw is in and the size of the screw.

This has also been a good reminder to get an oil filter socket for my truck. I have one for our sedan and it changed my life.

Addendum: it turns out the socket I already have is 64 x 14, same as the truck, so I am denied the opportunity to buy another tool. Toyota - Daihatsu parts sharing strikes again.

Don't think of it as a lost opportunity to buy a tool, think of it as Japanese kaizen making your toolbox more efficient.

I am a fan of the Vessel ball grip screwdrivers. I've got a lot of #2 drivers but thats the one I always reach for first.

I'm also a fan of the Vessel ball grip screwdrivers. I keep the one with interchangeable blades in my glovebox tool kit.

Visiting the Factory Gear store in Tokyo. They carry all the top European brands and Snap On tools, but I was mostly interested in checking out the Japanese brands like Nepros, Koken, KTC, and Deen. It's a tool lovers paradise. The t-shirt says "I like tools"

Nice thread. I need to get some JIS screw drivers. Didn't need them until I started messing with the carburetor lately.

I like having one of these for working on Japanese vehicles, a Vessel JIS Impacta impact screwdriver
