Hello... Has anyone removed the restrictor plate on a 2024 Hijet? Any information on the process for doing so? Thanks...
No. The speed limiter has been removed. I was told of an actual restrictor plate on the newer Hijets, and that you are able to remove that as well. Just unsure of the process.
The stock air intake is 19.60 mm the restrictor plate cuts it to a 8 mm hole. With more air/gas mixture comes more power.
That makes sense. Did you notice a significant increase in performance? What did it do to your mileage? Since the newer Daihatsu's have an OBD2 port, it seems the ECU could be tuned to increase performance. I have a tune on my Tacoma and it made a huge difference.
My restrictor had already fallen out into the airbox. So I have no comparison. This is a mod we've been doing to applicable dirt bikes for years with very good results.
So, it just fell out? Interesting... I'll take a look under the airbox today. What year\model do you have?
How did you get on, did yours have a restrictor plate fitted and did you remove it if it did? I haven't got a Hijet to try it yet, but curious if there was any performance gain in any way. Thanks
Hey fellas... For anyone following this thread, I finally got around to removing the "restrictor plate" from my 2024 Hijet. It was more of a restriction than what I was expecting. Photos attached for reference. Get 'er done!
New activity on this thread reminded me to get busy and remove my restrictor plate yesterday. I feel a quicker throttle response and it seems to come up to highway speed a little quicker. Now I'm wondering if the exhaust should be opened up some?
