Hey Guys, Just figured i'd write a little blurb, proud new owner of a 1995 Sambar, managed to pick it up with only 15,500 km. Didn't even make it out of the garage before having all the lights swapped for LED's, and stereo's all changed out, and tach on. Now the fun stuff: Does anyone know what the green logo is? Also has anyone had experience with putting 23x8x12 tires on a sambar? - I bought nice new ITP rims for her (new 316ss 1000lb weight rating ) that are 4x110. I have adapters to get me from the 4x100-4x110, but in doing a test fit it doesn't seem like these would ever fit? - even in giving it some extra height (simulating a lift kit with the jack) that doesn't seem to be a help. - Starting to think I should have bought a hi jet or something instead. We've sold and lifted a LOT of Subaru's and have never had a clearance problem, actually Subaru's are the only trucks where I've NEVER had a fit issue. I always use a 2" lift kit with 23x8x12 or 24x8x12 however I have never used adapters so maybe that's your problem? Also, are those rims 4+3 or 5+2? depending on that and the adapter to 4x100 you might be sticking to far out the side of the truck.
The rims are 5+2, I don't know if the spacers are helping or making it worse. I was having trouble finding 4x100 ATV rims, so I figured that this would be a nice way to space out the stance, and be able to use some other rims I have laying around. As you can see it is the outside of the wheel well that is causing the issue...
Spacers are the issue. As you turn the wheels with spacers, it sweeps forward and back more than without spacers.
Super grip 5 Star's are all available in 4x100 Vision Lockout's Vision buckshots after thinking about it more I really think the whole problem is the spacer
Aren't the Subaru the ones with a full frame? If so......... do a body lift. When I got rims for my 94 carry I ordered them with a 5 inch offset. Then slapped 10.5 inch wide wheels on all 4 feet. After lifting 3 inches I found that wasn't tall enough because the width allowed a larger arc when turning the wheel. So.........all said and done I had to trim the doors and lift her a total of 7 inches in front for everything to clear. If I had the choice of ordering rims that bolted on or wider stance at the expense of a huge lift......... I'd still go with the lift. It took me a bit of hair pulling and bleeding, but turned her into an awesome unstoppable tank we lovingly named the mini-mog hahaha
Hmh, I will try putting these tires on the stock rims for now to see if that will fix my fit issues. Muddy Moose, I don't know if i'd want to to that crazy with a lift yet, not to say its not going to eventually happen... But i'd like to make sure she does well enough off road without diff locs before going through that hair pulling experience lol.
Hahaha I hear ya man. I do like the rear diff loc. I use it more then 4 wheel drive to be honest. Ground clearance is the main problem. If I could get the lowest part of the skid plate off the ground 20 inches I'd be one happy guy hahaha.
