Possible engines to swap?

So I drive my Honda Acty a lot, I use it for work...

One thing I'd like, is if it was a little bit more highway capable.

So I've been doing some research, or rather... pondering.

Which engines would be able to swap into the truck, without ruining the use of the bed.

I'd like to keep the stock transmission, so that I can retain the 4WD for winter.

Now I know next to nothing about doing engine swaps...

But I think a Subaru boxer engine from one of their cars would possibly fit under the bed.

Also a Honda Goldwing engine, with the transmission... since it's shaft drive, maybe could mount up to the input shaft on the stock Acty transmission... then I could have a sort of secondary shifter, to lower the RPM on the highway.

I do realize a custom mounting plate will obviously have to be made to mate the stock tranny to whatever I swap into the truck.

What are your guys thoughts on my ideas?

Anyone drive their Acty a lot on the highway? Mines a 5 speed, and I feel a little bad when I'm cruising along at 85km/h, I wouldn't dare go on a 100km/h highway.

I agree the Subaru or goldwing swap are the best options - boxer design water cooled and highly now available.

EurAsian would be interesting. I have a Subaru Turbo in the driveway as a swap candidate though.

I just got a Suzuki Carry.
I have had a lot of Suzuki cars, from Metros to Swifts and even a Swift GTI!
I was wondering about doing a body lift and then maybe I could get the 1000cc metro EFI motor in mine?

I seen a forum thread of putting a swift engine in a mini truck on another forum.

I am currently researching a civic swap like a d15b mostly to get it past CA emissions but also to get way more power and have an understressed drivetrain. I'm still in the early planning stages and my acty hasn't even landed stateside yet. I'll make a full write up of the project here when I get somewhere with it.

The bmw k100/k1100 is an interesting idea. It has a standard dry plate clutch in a bell housing and the engine lays flat so it could potentially bolt up to the stock trans with an adapter plate and flywheel adapter. 90hp at 8000rpm would also be a significant upgrade.

Honda Beat engine would be your best bet. It is the same block, so it should bolt up to the tranny. 63 HP and 8100 RPM. It is fuel injected, but could be run by a larger carb.

I have found that the Stock 660 is fine!
    I have a 2" header and 2" exhaust
It also has a Mikuni 40 CV carb
It will move right along, faster than the suspension and steering can handle!

Hello. Well. I put a 1.3l Daihatsu hijet(piaggio porter)engine in my s82. I'm not so one piting back together but I didn't d take it for a drive with new engine,&5 speed transmission. And it's A LOT better and quicker. It's gonna be fun when I /if I get the rest of truck back together.
