My 1997 Honda acty street van is experiencing some odd sounds. 1. At 4th gear, around 3k RPM. Sounds like static. (Haven’t tested at 5th gear yet) https://imgur.com/a/E7flw3H 2. 3rd gear and above. Around 4k RPM. Sounds like metal shaking. https://imgur.com/a/epIxJFW Only under load. The fact that it doesn’t happen when I rev in neutral still and moving and rev in neutral in the same RPM makes me think it’s transmission related?
Could be a loose sheet metal of some sort under the van or the exhaust banging about. Did you change the tranny fluid yet? Might just be low. Welcome to the forum. Do us a favor and add an entry in your signature of the make/model/year of your truck. Helps us help you better.
That is something I've been meaning to find time to do. I'll change the transmission fluid and report back and check there for anything loose. Will report back! Thanks for the recommendation
Start looking for loose things underneath. Maybe its an Acty issue, hopefully someone else with an Acty can chime in and help.
Update: I posted the same question on Reddit. Some people said maybe engine and transmission mount so I ordered those to change. Waiting for them to arrive. Will keep updates here
update: 2. 3rd gear and above. Around 4k RPM. Sounds like metal shaking is FIXED. I had to replace my exhaust and muffler. 1st sound is still a problem, maybe CAT?
