Hey. I am building my engine and thought I would prime it first.
I have everything buttoned up, have oil, and I am spinning the oil pump with a drill, but not making oil pressure.

How long should I need to spin the pump to create pressure?

Anyone else ever prime their engine after a rebuild?

On a completely unrelated note, what torque specs did you use when you rebuilt your engine? I’m looking for some type of chart for when I rebuild my engine eventually. It will be my first motor rebuild, so I’m looking for a starting point

    I have a rebuild manual.

Anyone else? I do need an answer on this scenario as I plan on putting the engine back in tomorrow, and I don’t want it to run into any problems.

Nevermind. I think I had slightly wrong engine angle on my stand telling me I had more oil than I actually did.

I primed mine with a barbed fitting in the oil pressure switch hole and a gsdden pump sprayer full of oil. Let me lube the engine without spinning it over.
