I have a 2001 Suzuki Carry K6A, The vehicle just wouldn't start one day, would crank though. Have been smelling fuel for a few weeks when I used to start it. I have changed the sender unit complete as the pump was weak and lots of dirt, and trying to start it but its not Starting. Checked Power Supply, Fuel to nozzles fine. Plugs fine. Help Anyone New to these cars
Go to suzuki4u.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6616 and follow the link to download a manual. This manual is for a vehicle with a 4 cyl but the troubleshooting should be somewhat the same. K6A is EFI full computer controlled fuel & ignition so it could be any one of several senders or just a plug-in not making good contact. You can also go to Jacobsen website and download a parts manual and a maintenance manual for the K6A Fred
Hi fred Thanks for the help much appreciated. I had the sensors on the throttle body cleaned aswell as the throttle body itself cleaned up. Just a little history on the vehicle I had installed a 2" pipe with an exhaust muffler for some noise ;-) as well as a cone filter and aftermarket breather 3 years ago that is. The vehicle worked perfectly till about 4 months ago when it started smelling like it was running heavy as you could smell fuel when youd start the car. in the morning it would start but for you to move it would jerk and move till it was a little hot then no problem it would pick up ( thought could be in tank fuel pump). Then two weeks ago it could just not start,It would crank but no start. So ordered a complete genuine sender unit with in tank pump and installed it. Had a bit of problem starting it after putting back the tank pipes etc. It could start but have a problem in idling. looked it up and everything pointed to the throttle body. Have cleaned it including the sensors. it starts perfectly now though my only problem is the idling. it goes up and down its fluctuating a lot. What could it be now.. by the way have installed new NGK plugs aswell. Returned back the original aircleaner and air cleaner box. taken out the cone filter . Still idling fluctuating. Had it diagnosed and all seems fine. Could it be the big exhaust?Injectors? Please Help. Thanks
Had the tank cleaned aswell before i fit the new sender unit. Had new fuel filled up. But my main problem is the idling at the moment after doing all the above in my earlier post. The idling fluctuates alot.
Thinking about this a bit more. Is there a possibility that your exhaust mods have somehow altered the reading from the O2 sender to the computer? I am a long way from the brightest bulb in the room concerning computers so only guessing but it seems to me that free flowing exhaust might be indicating too cool and calling for more fuel to be injected. Fred
Hi there Fred, I cleaned up the exhaust, new suzuki genuine throttle body in,new injectors in,i even opened the engine chexked the exhaust valves grinded then put it back together. Vehicle starts but a few minutes later its back to the fluctuating idling. Could it be the computer box now?
There should be a IAC(IdleAirControl) valve in parallel with the Throttle Body that controls the amount of air at idle when the throttle body completely shuts off the incoming air which could be sticking and in need of cleaning. As I said earlier I am not up to snuff in EFI so am only suggesting what comes to mind. As I own a 2002 CarryVan with a K6A, I am not sure of how I will be handleing it when & if I ever encounter some problem with the running of it. Did you download that manual, it does contain quite a bit of troubleshooting. Fred
