Need Strut and Shocks 1994 Daihatsu

Does anyone know what brand and number shock and strut will work with a three inch lift kit on a 1994 Daihatsu? In one posting on this site, I found that Monroe shock part number 32207 would work on a Daihatsu. I bought a pair of the rear shocks today, but they do not seem long enough due to my three inch shackle lift. Therefore, I assume that the reference to this number was for a non-lifted vehicle. I also want to replace the front struts.

I just put a set of those Monroes on my '93 Hi-jet with a 3" lift and they worked great.

Jeff, Do you have the part# for the Monroes? Is the Monroe the same as stock or did the Monroe give you the 3" of lift?

I went to the parts store and asked for Monroe 32207. They were $19.95 each and fit right on the truck. I installed the 3" lift kit from G&R Imports, then put on the shocks so that the suspension can have full travel with the higher ride height. The shocks give you no lift, just full travel when the lift is installed.

The front struts appear to be worn out. Does anybody know a part number or replacement strut that will fit my 1994 Daihatsu with a three inch lift?

To Greg... I just had a phone conv w/Milt about the springs. We discussed the latest post about the 12" springs being on sale..
I'm thinking that the 10" one would be EZer to install.. thats what you have ..Rite? How are they doing now that you have months on them? I'm ready to buy.. and was thinking of the 10" at 250# for my 2001 Dahitsu.
I have been mostly using on the street, but now I'm getting another place in N. Az.. snow/mud is norm in winter months. And I will be using more for offroad and stuff around the property. Now it sits with a 2" lift, and 23" All trails. Only rubs the front sheet metal in reverse while turning..
You have been the gunnie pig here.. How's your springs working.., and is the 250#, or 225# recomended?

looks like 1990-1994 Hyundai Excel struts should fit(mitsubishis) with a slight lift as an added benefit(approx 1 inch) original...the lower spring perch is about 2 1/2 inches higher on the strut body but the overall extended length(strut bottom to extended piston rod top) is only 1 inch longer than the U42..there fore the original coil will be slightly more compressed due to the higher spring perch...making a stiffer overall stock spring..a coil could be cut off the spring to compensate...overall the stiffer strut from a heavier vehicle combined with a wimpy stock spring should make for a more compliant ride and a slight lift as well....I will be testing this setup this week...fingers crossedop:

 

Another idea being toyed with...cutting and gutting the stock non rebuildable strut and mounting a standard shock with 1 eylet end and 1 bayonet style end inside the original strut body securing the eylet end by through bolting through the strut (the bottom of the stock strut is very thick and should have no problem being drilled and bolted through without re-enforcement). As long as the replacement shock fits snugly into the strut body I don't see why this wouldn't work..attachment shows the replacement shock in yellow inside the gutted strut...Any thoughts? pies in the face ?...peels of laughter?

 

Greg...my appologies..digging through old posts and saw your recommendation to modify a strut in the same manner........dang and I thought it was an original idea..oh well...may try it if the excell struts don't pan out
