I'm reaching out for some guidance on an engine swap for my 1992 Suzuki Every van. Unfortunately, we lost the oil drain plug during a road trip, which led to catastrophic engine failure due to oil starvation. The original engine is an F6A inline-3, and I've been having difficulty sourcing a direct replacement here in NY. I've located a supplier that imports JDM engines, but since finding another F6A is proving challenging, I'm exploring alternative engine options. I have a mechanic who will be handling the actual swap, but before we move forward, I wanted to gather some insight from those who've worked on these vans or done similar swaps. A few specific questions: Has anyone successfully swapped an alternative engine into an Every? If so, what did you use? Are there any engines from the Suzuki lineup (or other manufacturers) that are known to be relatively straightforward swaps with this chassis? What should my mechanic and I be prepared for in terms of modifications—motor mounts, transmission compatibility, wiring harness work, etc.? Any recommendations on reputable JDM engine importers in the NY area, or specific engines that would be good candidates? I want to make sure we choose a viable option that won't turn into an endless project. Any advice, experiences, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
