I have yet another question lol I got rear ended last night which i didnt think was a big deal. I have insurance, it'll get taken care of. Wrong. So I get my claim papers and everything, time to start looking for a shop. Most of them say the body work is no big deal but the parts will be a problem. Not only will they not help with it, i have to find the parts, pay for them up front and work out all the shipping stuff. Is there anyone that has had to deal with this? Anyone in winnipeg know a shop that is a bigger help then this? Or have a good place to get parts from? Thanks a lot!
I would contact Todd at Westshore Auto. His site says he has 30 parts trucks and I have gotten body parts from him in the past so he should be able to help. Good luck - Ralph in Winnipeg
I have bought some parts from Westshore. I needed a window for a door and had it in less than a week. Vern
My insurance issue is still going on! the first place had my truck from Jan-May. They had this idea to cut up the rear and fit in some common tail lights. never happened. The second place, i didn't leave my truck (since i need a vehicle) but they have had my auto pac papers since may and every time i call they tell me light are on "back order". This has been the only downside to owing one of these trucks. Ive found parts online and ebay many times. should i just cave in and eat the costs to order them myself? its been pretty frustrating and no one else can relate except you guys on here so thanks for letting me vent haha
As long as they work and are soundly attached you should be fine. I have a set of lights (cheap PA ones) that I use to safety Hijets and then (GASP) I take them off and put the stock lights back in. As long as it says DOT or SAE you're good. Ralph in Winnipeg
Ralph is right, even if you go for OEM, you stand the risk of being "non compliant" in Manitoba. Japanese indicator and headlights do not say DOT or SAE, Princess Auto would get you back on the road for the lights. lectec in Gillam
