Mini rally in the States?

I know there have been rallies held in Canada, but does anyone ever think we could pull one off in the States? It would be a lot more difficult, with such a patchwork of legality. But I'd be willing to trailer my little Twinkie to a destination. We could do on-road stuff if everyone met the requirements, or off-roading if someone had a big range or something. Of course, with my mainly road-oriented truck I'd have to just watch others through the thick stuff, but it would be a hoot none the less!

A good, cheap, weekend vacation with enough food and beer to keep everyone happy. If fuel prices would stay down would make it economical, and dealers could bring demo's and try to increase sales. Would this ever work?

that would be a lot of fun, have a little car show to aclimate the public to seeing these things around and what can be done with them!!

not to hijack, but on the topic of cheap gas i filled my tank (i was running on vapors) for $12 the other day, it was awesome!!

This would be cool to do. Maybe even camp out somewhere. Obviously everyone will have to wait till my trucks done. :sly:

We can do the campout at our place. We have plenty of land and a private lake for your fishing, swimming and camping pleasure.

And we are located just 13 miles north of Toledo, Ohio.

    Andy...send out the invitations!!

Toledo is not to far off, I would be in for sure, with enough advance notice. I hope to see it work out!

Heck, I could drive my mini to the Michtruck site, and sleep in it, and fish......

Umm, I better check with the wife first :)

I think it would be a great time, just to meet everyone, put some faces with names, see everyone's trucks. I'd definetely plan on making it a weekend wherever we'd meet up.

My weekends fill up crazy fast with work, so finding one to work for most of us would be a headache, but do-able. What season would be best? Spring, Summer?

you guys will have to count me out of that one, it's 2,000 miles from phoenix to toledo. as much as i would love to see the home of the mud hens, i only get one week of vacation, i would have only enough time to drive up, shake hands, and go back home.

I think we should have it in Oklahoma. That way we could drive them around on the roads. Kind of like a weekend show I saw in Colorado in September. Hot rods where draging main most of the day and night. A town full of mini's. That would be cool. Would be in the middle part of the country.

Great idea could do it by region this year and have a national event next year. I need to get a new hauler this year i am looking at a 09 F150. need to talk further about this

    What about this!

I live in Ponca City, OK (North Central part of the state) and each year our community hosts the Grand Nationals Motocross Race. It lasts two weeks (a week of practice and a week of racing). About 2,500 camping trailers/RVs pull into town and they set up a mini town inside out town. It's a lot of people and a lot of fun.

I am not part of that organization, but wouldn't it be cool to have it here during another time o the year and use the track for 4-wheelin mini competetion? We could have an "off-road" class and a "road" class. Charge some kind of entry (small of course) and vote on the best in each class and pay a small purse out.

For those of you into gambling, we have turned into a little Las Vegas with all of the indian casinos here. There are two lakes for fishing in Ponca and if that isn't enough, there is a huge reservoir 7 miles away.

If anyone is game I can get some locals to start putting it together.

  11. Great idea! Really cool. Good public relations opportunity. Minitrucks = family, friends and four wheeling.

Oklahoma or here in Southern Michigan. Someone got an idea of any dates for either one?

If OK is doing something what dates are being suggected? Certainly we would like to go to a regional event too!

As I said earlier we are on 65 acres with our own private 15 acre lake. Lots of land in a quite community with a Cabelas only 4 1/2 miles awy for the sportsman shopper. We could camp, swim and boat here on the farm. We could invite the press and show off the 2009 and older trucks and stir up the regional interest while we enjoy the company of fellow Mini Truckers in a local Michigan country setting.

It only take one other and we can set a date and make some plans for a Michigan "Mini Truck Park and Shine"!

What do you say Andy, Bob?

May would be best...I have the weekends of the 16th and 23rd open, and it's possible they'll be the only weekends I could make it. If they don't work for you guys I could try to look for other weekends.

This would be a *great* chance to get some state reps. to come and try to get these buggers road legal here in MI.

    Yippee!!

  14. Oklahoma. . . . Michigan . . . Oklahoma . . . Michigan . . . Tough to choose!

Of course I am biased (because of location) but Steven has said in writing that he will allow us to use his property. That's pretty tempting. Cabelas's is right next door with Splash Universe (hotel and water park in Dundee, Michigan) and the beef jerky place just a mile further. But, I do not think the Corn Maze will be ready by May. Nonetheless, I vote for Steve's house.

Ok...I gotta cast a biased vote on Steven's open invitation (proximity is king). :D

Who has access to a skid-steer so we can carve out an extreme lil "test track". Event orgainzers must arrive several days early to test Michigan beer as well.

Sweet! Can't wait! I'll gladly help with the organization, but probably more on phone/email side since I'm a good 2 hours north.

The location sounds great...I forgot about the new water park there! AND the Russel Stover outlet:)

I am still for Oklahoma. Middle of the country and would be nice to have it in a state that you could drive on the raod. Have been to hot rod rallies in Colorado where they drove thru town. It was a awesome sight.

    Suggest regional rallies fisrt...

I think that each region should focus on building a "membership". There are great places for this type of event all over the US. By the way, just because OK might allow a resident to drive their mini on the street, they might not allow the same for a non-resident.
As far as an Oklahoma rally site, do a search for Sparks America. It is a campground in northeastern/central Oklahoma. They regularly host a pretty big motorcycle rally as well as a few other rallies including Mudstock http://www.mudstockok.com
    Mudstock Oklahoma 2009
Summer Mud Run July 24, 25 and 26
Mudstock Oklahoma Sept 25th thru 27th

any new news on the rally. I know how things can sneak up on you and I would love to see this thing be HUGE!!! Maybe get a list of people that are attending so you know how big it will be rather than planning on 50 and 200 show up or visa versa.

**count me in for 1 (maybe 2 if I can get the old lady to go)

    Put me on the spot.
Sure there are a few including yourself that indicated they would attend. But don't think we haven't been working on putting together a better invitation, Web Page for it, etc.

I know of one that will be there ME. Other than that we have had several others that I spoke to that indicated their attendance.
SouthernExpress3, Woodysminitrucks, gungHo, Prolog International Freight Forwarders from Houston,TX, several past customers, AND ALL THOSE YOU INCLUDE/INVITE.

Prolog will be there to talk about shipping issues and shippers association.

Dealers and suppliers are invited to attend as are just about any one with the slightest interest in Mini Trucks.
We expect to have a dealers reception the night before (Friday evening).

Think of what you would want to see there for Saturday.
    Lift Kit installation Demonstration
    Clutch Change out Demo
Your input goes here?????????? What do you want to see or do?

Remember we have enough land (65 acres) we can treck through the woods and show how to South Texas Penstripe a Mini Truck.

    Get those ideas coming!

Get on my case if you haven't seen the web page on our Website or the invitation posted here by next Tuesday.
