I'm midway through installing an engine and 5MT from a U42T into an older truck and I'm in a bit of a pickle with the intakes - I have an older manifold attached to a known good carb (top) and a newer manifold with a slightly suspect carb: The newer intake has a fitting corroded nearly off as well: Obviously I'm leaning towards using the older one; it looks as though everything lines up except for the coolant passage on the right side of the new one and the fact that the sealing surface is split on the old one. There's also the matter of surface area of the intake ports which I'm less concerned about (apart from the unsupported gasket material at the interface). Does anyone have any compelling reasons why or why not? I'd leave the carb untouched save whatever tuning it required to go from 6 valves to 12 valves. Suggestions appreciated!
