Recently took delivery of a '99 Sambar and was wondering for those who got maintenance records with your Truck; where did you find the records?

Probably found them in the truck if you are lucky. There is the equivalent of a CarFax like service in Japan but I don't know the name or how to get it done.

It's not in the glove box either

I found some in my glove compartment, they came in a red folder. I tried to translate it, but a lot of the parts with data are written in pen. Sloppy enough to not be legible by google translate. I guess any service record is better than none, date showed 2024 too!

CarVX is the service you are thinking of, but it very rarely contains any maintenance information as that is typically not reported to MILT. It would show bi-yearly Shaken history as well as any accidents and major repairs though.

Out of curiosity, did it say "2024" or just the number 24? Japan uses a different calendar than the rest of the world that is based on the reign of the emperor. The current year in Japan is Reiwa 6, often shortened as R6 or even just 6. The last "24" would have been Heisei 24, which was 2012.

Yep, you are correct. I just bought a report and nothing about any maintenance completed. Basically a waste of money

I'll be back home in about a week, ill have to check that. I guess I was just happy enough to see '24 I didn't bother to check if that was the year. The paper didnt exactly feel like it was 10+ years old though. I'll keep you posted once im back!

On an exported vehicle, it would probably list the same information as what was on the export certificate, which includes the last 2 shaken mileage records down in the bottom box. It might be a good way to verify advertised mileage prior to buying something, or to see if there is some accident history.. but that is about it.

My first truck had all maintenance records and manual in the glove box. Don't believe it's common though. CarVx is handy if you are looking to buy a vehicle and the seller hasn't produced an auction sheet.

For mine, the guy I bought it from had a small folder with some service papers, but nothing super detailed. A lot of times with these older imports, records get lost along the way. You might try checking under the seats or glove box—sometimes people stash papers there
