Yes, dont kid yourself folks. Especially JCE (You spend time in Japan) There are MORE low mileage trucks than high mileage. It is the general rule they have low mileage, and not the exception. Tires worn? LOTS of trucks get the tires swapped out with junk tires before they hit the auction. Dont matter to us Canadians anyway, as 99% of the Japanese tires technically aren't legal here. We replace all tires with new regardless. Many have the service history with detailed low miles. But in reality, we have had only 1 vehicle that was suspicious. All the others looked the part or their documentation confirmed such mileage. I have bought several 10,000-15,000 KM vehicles and do not doubt the authenticity of any of them. As well, things can happen to a vehicle not used or driven depending on how they have been stored. I have a car in my garage that hasnt been driven in several years. But, its leaking oil now (seals drying out) and it has some dents and scratches it shouldnt have. (Not careful putting the lawnmower away) Dry belts? That doesnt mean anything at all. Yes, shifters and steering wheels can tell a story, and I always wonder about aftermarket steering wheels.... They sure seem to like them there! Anyhow, my opinion is this: The majority of the vehicles coming out of Japan from reputable exporters are accurate. There are a couple of exporters that I KNOW 100% are not above board in many aspects of their business. (Been screwed by them, and had seen others screwed by them) Do we only bring in the highest quality trucks? No, definately not. Not everyone is in the budget for a premium unit. As well, it is true that it is difficult to obtain just minty units. I could not sell the qty of trucks we do if we waited for only the best of the best. We need every different type and condition to satisfy our customers. But anyhow, if you know what you are dealing with, it is very simple to stay away from odometer-tampered vehicles.
