Louisiana Title/ Registration Question

I am in PA and sold my Subaru Sambar to an individual in Louisiana. I imported it and went through the process to get a PA title and permanent registration. The PA titles records it as foreign and antique. The PA registration is permanent and includes an antique PA license plate. I looked at the Louisiana requirements for an off road title (that provides you a sticker allowing you to drive on any roads with a 55 MPH speed limit or lower?). I had turned in most of the original documents required for the Louisiana title to get the PA title. My question is what else will be needed for the new owner to get an off road title besides my PA title? I can certainly send the registration and a bill of sale if that helps. I also have copies of most import documents from my broker. In PA, we have to notarize the mileage, new owners name and address and the price of the vehicle on the title when selling the vehicle in or out of state. I will have it notarized, but what else will the new owner need to complete his title and registration process?

I would think he just needs the current PA title, the import documents are useless once you get a title from what I understand. Also, buyer beware, its the Louisiana buyers problem, not yours. Obviously you want to provide whatever documents are required but you have a title, should be enough.

 

Yes, I want to avoid shipping it to LA and having any problems. I’m sending my registration, the notorized PA title, bill of sale and copies of the import documents that LA was requiring. I can’t see how that wouldn’t do it. If he explains there are no original’s because they produced this title, what can they say?

He will need to provide several documents in addition to the notarized title that you will send him. In particular, he will need to complete form DPSMV-1799 (application for title/registration), present a notarized bill of sale specifying the mileage, the contact information of both parties and the price, as well as prove the payment of sales taxes in Louisiana

I think it all worked out as he received the vehicle, my title, bill of sale and all the import document I had two months ago. I have not heard back there are any problems.
