There are lots of archived threads about lift kits and their associated problems. Try a search. I spent days reading through old threads before I bought.

We've done several Suzuki's on Mattracks with no problems. You will need to install a 2" lift when installing the Mattracks and plan on doing some metal trimming up front on the lower corner part of the doors to allow full articulation of the tracks when the suspension is loaded. Some guys have gone more on the lift but I personally don't recommend it (and you will find that as the consensus among experienced members here).

Here is a video of this truck in action on tracks: 1996 Tracked Suzuki Carry

The Mattracks system is the best designed and built system IMHO. Yes, you will pay a premium for their product, but when you've the opportunity to compare against some of the competition out there, you see why. Properly maintained, these tracks will provide you years of trouble-free service.
Here is what I recommend as prerequisites in a truck that will receive a track system:
    • 4x4 Hi-Lo - You will want the ability to shift the truck into 4-Low when operating on tracks for ultimate performance
    • Optional - Rear Differential Lock is a great option to take full advantage of the track systems traction and climbing capabilities in the loose or mucky stuff. You can live without it but if you're hunting for the right truck, I would seriously consider this option.

If you're still concerned about lifting the truck, do a little more research here. This has been thoroughly covered in-detail about why not to go over 2" in suspension lift height unless a custom kit has been developed to address driveline angles, etc.

  4. We have done the 2" lift/ Mattracks as well. Got one of them running around off the road system near Talkeetna.

I built a 5" lift for mine (dropped the entire driveline), and have no binding at all. My Mattracks fit no problem. The only issue is the total height of the truck.... I have to climb the tracks to get into the cab.....which is cool for me, but others may have concerns.

The other issue is lack of power.....but I'm working on fixing that.....
