LED Tail Light Conversion

    Hello Fellas! ...

Decided to install a bumper on my truck with a 2" box hitch and installed LED tail lights into the bumper. "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" :)

Tried searching the forum to see if anyone replaced their old bulb lights to LEDs and only found connecting the mini to trailer installations... However, nothing listed on replacing the old bulb type with LEDs (unless I overlooked a thread somewhere).

My Daihatsu has four (individual) wires on the existing harness ...
    1) Stop
    2) Turn
    3) Running
    4) Ground (not sure)

    New LED lights have:
    1) Stop/Turn
    2) Running
    3) Ground

NOW .. what I have is a problem with the three original wires (less grounds) that need to connect to a two wire LEDs.

You cannot connect the STOP and TURN wires together because they cancel out the turn signal when flashing by the stop light...

SO... figured I would as you guys on what it will take to make this work correctly .. Will it require a converter? or a inline diode? :pop:

    Thanks

    Trailer light converter

On my motorcycle I have wired in a trailer light converter so the signals turn on when the brake light is on. Works well and is the same for your mini!

Myself I just swapped out the regular bulbs for comparable LEDs.....

My tail lights were shot ... Just replacing the bulbs with LEDs would not help in my modification. Tail light brackets and old tail light lenses were broken and rusted sockets out lived themselves. During the new installation of the bumper with a box hitch to the mini resulted in having the plate steel cut for grommet installation.

Looks really great! ... Gives my mini that "HEAVY DUTY" truck look ..

Ahh gotcha....I guess you could either use the converter as Ravk suggested or add another LED for the stop or turn
