I’m looking to source a used trans for my KS4 is there any real difference in years or the KV4 vs what I have which is a 96? any information on the topic is appreciated TIA Reece
Vans and Trucks got the same transmission. There are a few different variations depending on year and engine type, mostly in final drive ratios and in axle connection style... but any KS4/KV4 trans will physically bolt up and work.
Do you know if the same is true for the TT2 trans? what should I look for as far as cv connection I thought they all just slip fit?
You would probably need to swap over the reverse switch, change the speed sensor for the speedo cable extension housing.. but otherwise it would physically bolt up just fine since the 5th and 6th gens use the same engine. You may also need some custom axles that have 6th gen on one end and 5th gen on the other.
sounds like I should try and stick with the ks4/KV4 option thanks for the input any idea which ones have the lowest final drive ratio? Probably 95-98 range?
The lowest final drive option is on the Supercharged Sambar. All KS/KV Supercharged models have a 0.816:1 5th gear and a 6.166:1 final drive. All N/A Sambars have a 6.500:1 final drive, and a couple of options of 5th gear depending on year.
After thinking about it I can’t go with the s/c version because the front and rear gear ratio would be different right?
The front and rear ratios are different on all 4WD sambars, and the open center diff just deals with the discrepancy. I am having a hard time finding the ratio at the moment, but I want to say that they are all the same.
