I just got my truck and I need to install a clutch safety switch before I can register it. I'm thinking of adding a push button at the back of the clutch pedal that will be pressed when the clutch is fully depressed, then have the starter wire (black/white) go through it.

I don't know if there's any requirement for the switch and wires. From what I understand, the starter will just be supplying power to the solenoid switch and doesn't need much current. I haven't found an exact number related to that current so I don't know what switch to buy. I found a 7mm push switch with a 1A rating (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B083JWHVKF) which should fit the hole behind the clutch pedal where a rubber stopper currently is.

As for the wire, I haven't found the gauge of the black/white wire but I'm assuming I would need to match that. I'm thinking of getting a 12ga (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0CRF7GMCN).

    Would these work?

quick update. i just tested the ignition switch with a multimeter and it looks like it's pulling ~7A. the switches i've found are all only rated for 1~2A. it seems like i'm going to have to use a relay so i'll need to figure out how that works.

thanks for the suggestions, @Bert Stevens!
