Hello. My 1999 Honda Acty Attack (HA7) has been having some issues losing power. Don't even have to be going uphill, even on flat areas, I just suddenly lose acceleration. Eventually, it starts working again if I can keep it from stalling. I have tried pumping the gas pedal when it does this, and it seems to help keep it from stalling. It's gotta a lot worse, and now it will shake the truck when it loses acceleration, and sometimes when I start the truck up, it is running really rough too. Anyway, my guess is that it's the in tank fuel pump/filter. I took that out, and the pump is definitely rusty. I had checked the gas line pressure to the engine by taking it off and turning the key, and it spurts when I did that, so I was leaning filter, but I'm thinking I should just replace both. I see for some of the older model Acty's you could use an old Accord fuel pump, any similar swaps I could do with the HA7 that would be cheaper and maybe located in the US? Any other sites I should try to find the parts from or find the actual part numbers on? Any other general ideas for stuff to try/check that might be causing my issue? Thanks!

According to this site, this pump is compatible (and considerably more reasonable). https://cars245.com/en/item/bosch-0986AG1304-fuel-pump/ I found the entire assembly here: https://www.amayama.com/en/part/honda/17040s3a010. and the various components on that site using the part numbers found from partsouq.com. I need to disassemble the unit and see what looks reusable. I imagine the #13 part from that first link is the fuel gauge, which works. I'm thinking I might only need a new pump and filter. If that bosch pump will work, maybe I just need the filter as well, which hopefully also has an equivalent that is easier/faster to deliver than from Japan.
Didn't find a better place to get the filter from than amayama, bought it there. The Bosch pump looks like it should fit, and according to at least two sites its compatible, so I ordered that as well. Will update when they come in and I've got the truck back together.
keep us informed on your results please. I do have similar problems with my Mitsubishi Minitruck.... under load it boggs.... on flat road all is fine, but if I push the accelerator a little so to get some torque from the engine...it boggs again... I think it could be related to the sparks\ignitor or even the plugs... since the tail pipe is black if I pass my finger inside the tail pipe.. it become black, so to me it is running rich. When I start the engine, it sound good, choke seems to be working fine. Look forward to get your results.
running rich: I had years ago the same problem with my Acty HA3, in idle it was running ok, when I pushed the gas pedaL i got BLACK SMOKE = unburnt fuel, even removing the air intake filter did not help. I will update when I get the pump/filter back in. Currently, would recommend looking elsewhere for that Bosch pump. I got the filter from Japan already, but the pump is apparently coming from Latvia, and hasn't had any shipping updates since arriving in the US 10 days ago... EDIT: If you do use that cars245 site, use the site they recommend in their FAQ for tracking: https://www.17track.net/en. I had originally used some other global tracking site, and the updates stopped when it hit the US. The 17track site showed all the shipping updates, including USPS ones.
Finally got the pump, and put it and the filter in. Truck still ran very rough upon starting it. I let it run til the engine heated up, and then it was running just fine, didn't have any loss of power issues. Will give it awhile and then try running it again to see if it does the same next time.
I think the only remaining issue I have related to the truck not running great til it warms up is due to having some really old gas in there (6+ months, maybe this was my only issue all along). I put a bit of premium in there with the existing gas, and that helped a bit, but for now I'll probably just let it warm up a bit til I go through the rest of the tank and can get totally fresh fuel in there (and clearly I won't need to keep the tank topped up). On a totally unrelated note, I mounted a Jeep Wrangler bumper on my truck, to the front bumper frame, and then mounted a plow to the bumper. It's working, but lifting the plow (with a winch, also mounted on the bumper) bent the bumper frame a decent amount. Going to have to do something to make that firmer at some point.
Any chance you found a resolution to yours? This sounds really similar to an issue I've inviting for a year across multiple carburetors
In case anyone stumbles upon this later. The issue I had with the truck running like crap til it warms up was related to the thermostat. I plugged in an obd reader and was talking to my brother who is a mechanic and while I forget the temps, basically it was never getting as warm as my brother said it should, even when it started working well. I ended up replacing the thermostat, and it's running well on start again.
I had a similar lack of power issue when I imported my truck. Long story, but the problem was rust/ dirt plugging one of the fuel injectors. I cleaned all 3 injectors as best I could and it ran well until they seem to have plugged again. I've recleaned them and it runs well again, but now I will drop the fuel tank and clean it out and put in a new fuel filter. I'll also likely get all the injectors professionally cleaned with new seals and filters. My truck was pretty low mileage so I assume it sat idle a lot and the tank got rusty.
I’m having the exact same issue. Can you clarify did you install a thermostat or a coolant temperature sensor. I don’t see how a thermostat can affect the instant cold start performance. I’m guessing you replaced the temperature sensor for the ecu?

I see the bosh pump, but what is the part number for the filter? I looked on the Amamana site and did not see it. thanks
