Hi all, this is my first post and I am a new Kei truck owner. Can someone confirm the rusted and loose object my finger is on is the heat shield for my catalytic converter? This feeds right into the muffler, to the right outside of the picture. I don't see heat shields for this available online, is this something that can easily be found at a local muffler shop? Thanks!!

Yeah. That is the heat shield. No one will have one in stock, but I imagine a decent shop could fabricate you something to work.

Thanks HiJinks. I went by a local muffler place and they said I didn't really need the heat shield and to keep driving until the cat convertor goes out and then I can replace them both. Any thoughts about driving w/out the heat shield?

I can’t remember if it covers the top of the cat or not. If so, it may protect the parts of the vehicle above.

Underneath, just be cautious about parking in tall grass or bush. The glowing hot cat can catch dry tinder on fire.
