Hijet S110P carburetor solution

1997 Hijet S110P GS had a few issues at purchase, fuel was the biggest.

This is a weird beast as coolant runs through the carburetor and finding replacement car s or info has been tough!

I had seen people have success with running aftermarket options, available for the 83, so I gave that a shot, fabricating an adapter with coolant bypass.
Though I did manage to get it running, idle and drive, the carb response was poor regardless of adjustment.

    HERE WAS THE SOLUTION:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/305198321123

This motorcycle carb relies on gas and air, was installed in about 2 hours (shortening throttle cable was toughest part without a dremel).

Truck fired right up (without a single adjustment) and drove laps around the ranch.

    I am one happy camper!

    How hard was access?
I may need to do the same thing.
We need a sticky thread just for EF-GS motors.

    Access was easy!
I did have the bed off, but even with the bed back on, there is plenty of room to do the job (and any adjustments can be made to the carb by reaching under the truck.

Install should take maybe 2 hours if you need to shorten your throttle cable (I did), or as little as 30min if cable is the right length

Here is a picture installed and running, but before I cleared and cleaned out remaining useless vacuum lines and parts

Btw: the coolant lines that go to the stock carb can completely be bypassed!

Just behind alternator is the "supply" line to manifold/carb. I just ran a hose straight to the intake (top left hose in pic)

How about Choke for cold mornings?

It does have a choke on it (and a few different jets, though stock works just fine for me)

    So a cable choke.
Maybe put choke handle between seats?

    Who made the carb?

The carb is a Nibbi and I put the choke know at the seat base close to the shifter

Awesome info, thanks KevinK! I am struggling to get my OEM carb to behave and I think this will be my solution too!

    I say go for it!
Simple solution for a very fair price.

Our little truck is still running strong and is used daily (7 days a week) as a ranch work/feed truck

    Hello
How did you get rid of the vacuum lines? Just cap them? Thanks

Only 2 vacuum lines are used.
One goes to the map sensor and I think the other one went just after the carb.

I will take some pictures for you

Thanks, I just finished cleaning and installing the OEM and the choke butterfly stays closed and it shuts off. It starts right up but shuts off because it needs air.

Brandon, did you get your beast running?

My stock carb was beyond repair, and the aftermarket one for the previous generation just didn't work well

I bought the aftermarket one also and didn't work for me either and I ended up installing a 250cc motorcycle one on my previous mini truck but the job was a little harder than the conversion kit. Here is a video of how I did it.

Just a warning for S110 peeps, THIS WILL NOT FIT if you have the EF-NS engine! The eBay seller was not specific on WHICH engine of the S110 the conversion kit will fit, instead I had to take a stab at it because it was my only option at this point.

Looking past the fact the entire adapter is the wrong shape, there is a piece of metal sticking out from the intake manifold preventing the adapter from fitting.

Would appreciate any advice for me as I'm very much down to my last few options of getting this thing running.

That is very different from the adapter plate that I got with my s110p kit!

I think that they sent you the wrong one

I was looking at the pic you posted earlier, your engine's intake manifold looks very different than what I have on mine. I am really hoping it's as simple as they sent me the wrong part.

Bump for Kevin PM again. To all, I have a 1996 EF-GS and NS/RS service manual translated. Had to do it page by page via image and google translator but worth it!

Mods please let me know how to get it to you for a hijet sticky. Thanks

Have you compiled it into a single pdf?
That would be the ideal solution

Hey Kevin yes I will. And I solved my no start issue 15amp IGN fuse under the steering wheel… doh! I now have the CEL light on and hot cat light on startup agin. Well at least my ignition system is tip top lol. My carb is fine but glad to have the backup eBay carb you suggested. No onto my leaking radiator and water pump. Fun!

    That is good news!

As for the cat display (from reading some old tech bulletins), grounding the cat sensor is the official solution from Daihatsu
