I know we've all discussed this a billion times, but lets rehash. The way I understand it 2" is all the HiJets will take. I've seen some pictures of some w/ 25" tires on them and lots of room between the tire & fender. How is this accomplished? Body lift? or just a larger lift at the cost of CV joints? Anyone found a kit that drops the tranny, motor, ect to allow for more clearance? I've got a 2" on my 98' w/ 23" All Trails and get a little rub sometimes. Thanks for the help!
do a search, i know there are a few guys here that have done a diff and cross member drop to accomodate the larger lift and tires... and i've heard of complete kits that don't have to be hand made that will accomplish the same thing but i don't know the quality of the product.
I've got a ~6" lift w/25's on my 99. It uses a 3" add-a-leaf and ~3" shackles in the rear. 5" strut risers w/ a ~1" longer/stiffer springs in the front. I fabricated 4" spacers for the front suspension cradle to allow for CV clearance. Space the rear tranny mount 2" to re-align the rear driveshaft. C-notch the crossmember to allow clearance for the front driveshaft. Replace all 3 rubber brake lines with longer DOT steel braided ones. Lengthen a few vacuum hoses. Fabricate a drop pitman arm. Lengthen the radius rods 1.5". I think thats all I did. -Greg
