High idle after full carb rebuild
The engine is warmed up to operating temperature: I changed a few seals, pretty easy ones. And both solenoids. After plugging everything back in, it is revving very high (Both warm and cold idle are 500 RPM more than before (cold at 2500 RPM and warm around 15-1600 RPM). When I push the throttle to close, it goes back to normal rpms like 1000 ish rpms (at least that’s how I got it). Any ideas?

What is the factory spec for warm and cold idle? I saw in oiwa cold idle can be between 2.2k RPM - 3.2k RPM
And in the english service manual for warm idle it says 1000 ±50RPM are these correct?

which engine, built year do you have? Pls add such details as your signature, always important when help is needed. See my signature as example.

need to know how far in you went with the "rebuild", if you took apart the choke mechanism, and all of that is now out of adjustment, it could be holding up the idle. Some pictures of your carb will help. there are two, idle pull up, vaccum solenoids, (on some engine) on the top of the carb, that raise the idle for electical load, and A/C load. that could be part of this. and that is the easy answer. hopfully it is just adjusting : idle mix, idle speed and choke.

    Hi shogun,
It is E07A from 1994. You're right, I should do that! I am new to the forum, will update now! :)

    Hi Bert,

Actually, I didn't disassemble the choke mechanism. Just the lever on top of the solenoids to be able to remove the solenoids. Btw if that lever is counted in choke mechanism, then I touched it yeah :D I will reply with pictures tonight!

How do we adjust the choke? because idle screw is on the far counter-clock turn and idle speed screw is barely touching (backed up to lower the idle) to throttle lever now and I have to manually push to the throttle lever to lower the RPMs. And when I push to the throttle lever, it also pushes the throttle valve on the back side (literal back side of the truck) , and then it lowers. I think the back throttle valve is related with choke right? If so, how do we adjust it?

    Thank you :)
