Headlight Ignition question

I just purchased a 1997 Acty SDX and have no experience with Kei trucks. Anyway, I've noticed that if the headlights are on, I can turn off the key and remove it, but the engine keeps running. Only if I turn off the headlights will the engine turn off. The truck works great in every other way. Is this some sort of weird JDM or Acty feature or do I need to track down the wiring fault?

that sound cool to me, you have peaked my interest, I will study the wiring diagrams today.

OK, then it seems like this may not be typical. I have the service manual but it doesn't include the wiring diagram. Any help is appreciated. Curiously, I would have thought that if the headlights are tied to the ignition, then I should be able to start the engine by turning on the headlights. But it's not doing that. Lights will come on without the key in the ignition so they are running on a live 12V all the time. Again, not sure if this is proper behaviour?

Small update: I've noticed that if I turn on my headlights without the key in the ignition, all the dash warning lights come on the same way as they would when turning the ignition to the second position. So this would seem to indicate that the headlight switch has been tied to the ignition switch position.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram that might show the ignition switch? I've been using Google Translate and it seems to work pretty good on previous wiring diagrams I've found on this site. Thanks.

Sounds like a good feature to me. You’ll never leave the headlights on and kill the battery.

It could be a blown fuse. Check them all. Because things are wired with negative switching you can see weird things when a fuse blow. On my Every when I blew the radio fuse, random dash lights would be lit when the key was turned on. It would run and start ok otherwise.

Interesting, I'll take a look at this. It's not a bad feature now that I know this. Just odd.
